Dear msa5678,
I am new to practicing this strategy too. However I dont think that its advisable to second guess the system. IMHO, we should trade any system after getting a good knowledge of that system. How would you take a small profit if this trade whipsaws?
From what i have understood of this strategy is that crossover doesnt assure us profit, but we just tag along keeping our losses
minimum and adding as our original position is in profit. Please let me know what you think.
Regards.
Krist.
Dear Krist,

I am a great follower of all SH's strategies. I will never dare to second guess any of his strategies. My idea is that taking a loss in the first trade of the strategy will discourage me, so in order to keep my confidence in place , I intend to take some reasonable gain, Next crossover will always be there. I am also keeping an eye on 534 crossover. Chances are galore, timing is important. We are indeed lucky to have SH as a guiding light.

Hi,

Is there any dedicated thread for 534 crossover strategy..?
Dear Nava ,

I was also searching for the same , but didn't find any details, only thing I came to know is that the same rules applicable to 315 crossover hold good for 534 also. I am sorry if I am diverting the thread away from its purpose, SH need to look into it. It is a long time since SH has commented here, hope he will respond soon.

Hi all, thanks for providing the monthly OHLC data....

315 gave a sell today on Nifty so exited longs and opened shorts (still 50% of position size).

Loss in last trade is 110 points.

I agree with Linkon and Vinst, the trading needs to be mechanical without worrying about what will happen next...it may hit the stop loss or give handsome profits..thats not in a trader's control.

Another 100-150 points loss in these shorts will not kill me or my confidence on the system .... what will kill me is not taking this trade and then seeing it going into 500-1000 points profit ......

Cheers
SH
Hi all,

Bullish crossover on 315 yesterday for Nifty... closed shorts and opened longs at 5540. Loss is last trade 100 points again.

We have 2 consecutive whipsaws now in 315 so these longs I have gone back to 100% quantity instead of 50% earlier.

Cheers
SH

Dear SH,

I have prepared an Excel file for backtesting of 315 strategy, backtest period is from 15-12-08 to 15-12-10, and the results are just awesome, 89% return in 2 years. You will get more if you keep an eye on the charts and add and reduce as per the rules mentioned in the beginning of the post. For the sake of backtesting, entries and exits before a crossover are not taken into account. Also please note that I am taking entry exactly at the crossover, this also for the sake of convenience of backtesting. The data in Columns "A" to "I" is copied from NSE Site, Column "J" is simply a copy of Column "F", Columns "K" to "S" are automatically calculated by the formulae, Column "T" needs to be entered manually, which is the next entry point, Columns "U" and "V" are again automatically calculated. Please note that I have prepared a similar sheet for 534 crossover, But to keep the discussion on this thread , within the limits, I am not attaching the same.

Regards

P.S....Please note that I have done backtesting using NIFTY SPOT Data , Actual trading is done using NIFTY FUTURES DATA, The intention of the backtest was to have a general picture of the strategy... To get actual results as traded by SH pls go to the link http://www.traderji.com/technical-analysis/36686-shs-315-strategy-results.html You will find results for the Year 2009 , and that excel file is the best example I have ever seen, it will take you step by step through the strategy.
