SH's 315 Strategy - how to use if effectively

Dear SH,

I have prepared an Excel file for backtesting of 315 strategy, backtest period is from 15-12-08 to 15-12-10, and the results are just awesome, 89% return in 2 years. You will get more if you keep an eye on the charts and add and reduce as per the rules mentioned in the beginning of the post. For the sake of backtesting, entries and exits before a crossover are not taken into account. Also please note that I am taking entry exactly at the crossover, this also for the sake of convenience of backtesting. The data in Columns "A" to "I" is copied from NSE Site, Column "J" is simply a copy of Column "F", Columns "K" to "S" are automatically calculated by the formulae, Column "T" needs to be entered manually, which is the next entry point, Columns "U" and "V" are again automatically calculated. Please note that I have prepared a similar sheet for 534 crossover, But to keep the discussion on this thread , within the limits, I am not attaching the same.

Regards

P.S....Please note that I have done backtesting using NIFTY SPOT Data , Actual trading is done using NIFTY FUTURES DATA, The intention of the backtest was to have a general picture of the strategy... To get actual results as traded by SH pls go to the link http://www.traderji.com/technical-analysis/36686-shs-315-strategy-results.html You will find results for the Year 2009 , and that excel file is the best example I have ever seen, it will take you step by step through the strategy.
Nice code !! Thanks for sharing :)

Dear Friend,

Went throgh your file. Nice work. According to me, you should take the entry level as the days close when cross over happens and not the EMA15 value. Entire picture changes. In practical view, we are supposed to act after 3.25 PM after checking the EMA values. Hence you should take "Closing Price" as entry.

Thanks

Kitty - yes 315 crossover opened yesterday at closing price and I am long based on 315.

Cheers

we are struck in trading range between 5599 to 5175 so we will be taking many whipsaws (with 315 method) i suppose. SH please guide what to do in such times.

New to this simple and fantastic strategy.....thanks to benevolent seniors and this wonderful site. Backtested it and entered longs on 02 Mar. This strategy undoubtedly gives you a lot of confidence on other smaller time frame swing trades . Whipsaws are unavoidable in any method and it just signifies the consolidation before the next big move. Stick on and it will take you to heights....should be the mantra.

If I am not mistaken, on friday, there was some 60 points difference between Open and 3EMA. So as per rules would we have exited at open and entered longs again at lower levels?

Krist.
