SH's 315 Strategy - how to use if effectively

DEAR SH...

NOW ONLY PROBLEM I FACE IS EXIT WHEN CANDLE IS NOT TOUCHING 3EMA.
RIGHT NOW I HAVE NOT SUBSCRIBED TO NIFTY PREMIUM SERVICES.
SIR ANY OTHER MANUAL/OTHER METHOD TO LOCATE EXIT SITUATION WHEN CANDLE IS NOT TOUCHING 3 EMA.IT WOULD BE GREAT IF U CAN GIVE ANY SOLUTION.

JK
Dear JK,

If you dont have charts which show dynamic real time EOD candle, the only way you can exit is to calculate 3 EMA manually through excel sheets.

As far as when to enter, I have explained the entry criteria enough times in this thread so dont want to keep repeating the same thing.

Dear SH,
I have started doing my paper trades from 11.12.09. I have attached my excel template which i use to track my position daily. Thanks a lot for giving such a simple strategy on entry, exit & sl for positional trading. Your 315 is the best method to identify the trend and to ride with the trend. Though the capital deployment is more i have invested around 15lacs:) (in paper trade only) and the results were awesome:thumb: I started watching the market everyday to realign my portfolio according to the 315 rule. I will continue to do so till 31.12.09 to gain confidence on what i am doing. I planned to do real trade from 01.01.2010 with Minifty/Nify and later on increase my capital level gradually to trade other stock futures.

Please do have a look on the template when u r free and give me your feedback!!!

Again thanks a lot for sharing such a wonderful setup. Though we have gained knowledge but we have not yet mastered with this strategy and look for your support as usual.

Cheers,
Karthik

Dear Karthik,

You seem to have understood the strategy and good to see you are trying to play around with a dummy portfolio. It is also good to see that in your portfolio both longs and shorts are in profit.

Well done!

SH,Though the 315 set up in Weekly chart is still Bullish but just saw that the previous weeks Bar had the smallest range since mid October and the low of the same has been decisivly broken by the week ending today and on closing basis too!!! Seems bulls still have a lot of pain still left to be endured!!

Thanks Rkkarnani,

you seem to be applying the NR4 or NR7 or something here ? I havent been able to understand any logic or concept behind why one short range candle would decide the future trend.....for they being short range also means that next candle can first give an upside breakout and then give a downside breakout simultaneously (engulfing). I would rather trade a breakout/breakdown of a wide range bar with more confidence.

Anyways, for me till weekly 315 is bullish, investors need not worry.

Dear SH,
Me too watched Sesagoa after the downside breakout happened on 18th Dec. Today it bounce back. How to avoid this kind of whipsaw... any clue for us?

Hi Saravanan - There is no technique that I can provide to avoid such false crossover. Every scrip will give a false crossover once in a while.. if there was any way to avoid such false crossover... this 315 technique would have become a holy grail having 100% accuracy rate ... :cool:

The only good thing is that since we enter immediately at a crossover, a whipsaw should not mean a huge loss.

The spirit of 315 is not to have 100% profitable trades but to have 100% profitable trading years.. one after the other after another and so on ....

SH,

As far as I remember, I have only made 3/4 trades (all SELLs) so far using 315. They have all resulted in losses for me. Strange luck indeed.

11/06: HCL Tech was initiated as a SELL at 308.
11/09: HCL Tech was initiated as a BUY at 313.50.
LOSS = Rs 7,150.00

12/15: HCL Tech was initiated as a SELL at 336.00.
12/16: HCL Tech was initiated as a BUY at 345.50.
LOSS = Rs 12,350.00

12/21: Bharti Airtel was initiated as a SELL at 309.
Today (12/22): Airtel whipsawed with a BUY at 321.50.
LOSS = Rs 6,250.00

Currently have an open position in NIFTY initiated as SELL at 5025 on 12/15.

I attribute this more to bad LUCK rather than the system itself. But if one is terribly unlucky then no system if foolproof.
