Stock FUTURES To Keep A Close Eye On

I never trade with Nifty Future, (but trading in options) I like to clarify few basic things, if the nifty future is at 5150 and how much I need to buy 1 lot of mini nifty, is it 5150 x 20 = Rs.1,03,000 ?

If nifty closes at 5110 on that day, should I have to pay the 40 points on end of the day? i.e. 40 x 20 = Rs.800 and vice versa every day and in reverse what will happen if nifty closes 5190 instead of 5110 on that day?

Can we carry forward the position to next month, unless like in options have to close on expiry?

For ONE lot of minifty one requires less than 15,000/- rupees
in your account.
Say if position is taken at 5150 and Nifty falls to 5110 then
800/- is debited to your account and in case if nifty climbs
to 5190 then 800 is added to your account.
Other rules in case of OPTIONS is valid here also.
you can not carry this month futures to next month.(1-month
futures).

So, it will be debited from the account once it goes against our position and will be credited if it favour us each day at EOD. We have to keep a minimum balance of Rs.15000 in our account for mininifty. Its not like buying stocks or options (call/put) where the amount immediately got debited? I am just making sure.

You can get NET POSITION account which is summation
of all MTMs (your CREDITS or DEBITS) which is otherwise
equal to (Present Price - Your price)*20,in case of minifty.

Consider that you have taken position of current month MINIFTY
at 5150.

Say,First day it closed at 5190 then MTM 20*(5190-5150)=800.

Example:
Code:
close MTM
5190 800 (5190-5150)*20
5200 200 (5200-5190)*20
5260 1200 (5260-5200)*20
5250 -200 (5250-5260)*20
         TOTAL= 800+200+1200-200=2000
The total 2000 is same as (5250-5150)*20 ,that is
(Current price-your price)*20.

I am using RKG ODIN, how can I place an order for shortsell/writing in minifty?

Exactly you can not directly carryover the position, but you can make a little trick that is called rollover.

At the same time, just sell current month's position and buy next month's position.

Just brokerage is lost if you can buy at the same price. Or if you are able to buy next month's one at little lower point (5-10 points), then this brokerage is also covered.

Short-Sell is associated with equities and writing is
associated with Options.
In case of Futures ,since merely it is an agreement,
I think it is not wise to use the word short-sell.
On the otherhand Equities are present in electronic
form in your DP.
