Hi Savantji;

I hve a position in HDFC BANK . You said the position is for 10 days.
Can I still hold it for the gvn tgt. of 1300+. & what should be my stop loss.
i bought it yesterday at 1199/.
Thanx in advance.

Hello Savantji,

1]

If you can throw some light on SUZLON, SAIL, NAGARFERT, EDUCOMP from a day trading perspective(today,May14) .

The reason I am into day trading is that I trade on margin against shares in my DP and broker does not allow more than 4 working days of credit, any comment on how should I approach trading. I would be happy to provide any further information required to comment on this.

2]

How I trade (Though risky, comments welcome):

I take in 1000 Suzlon and as per market perception I go long or short. By doing this mostly I have lost money and gained little. The reason I have lost more on losing positions is because I failed to put stop loss for most of the trades. What stop loss should I apply as for say the scenario below:(I understand individuals have their own risk assessment but assuming if u were in this trade then what SL would u apply)

Scenario
Suzlon: 1000 @80 Long
CMP:80.20
Target: 81.20.
SL: ???????????

Appu.

Re: JPASSOCIATES, Any View On It??????

HARI OM

JAIPRA ASSOCIAT IS TAKING SUPPORT AT THE 135 - 133 REGION FOR THE PAST 4 TRADING SESSIONS.

STOCK LOOKS TO SLIDE DOWN FURTHER IF SLIPS BELOW 133.

IF 133 IS CRACKED JPASSOCIATES LOOKS HEADING DOWN TOWARDS 130 - 127 REGION.

STOCK HAS CLOSED AT 135.

JPASSOC LOOKS IN A CORRECTIVE MODE, STILL IT HAS BEEN BOUNCING BACK FROM 133 ZONE.

140 IS THE FIRST RESISTANCE AND ABOVE THAT ON THE UPSIDE 145 HAS BECOME A WALL FOR FURTHER UPTREND.

MR SAVANT, HOW DO YOU VIEW THIS STOCK?????

STOCK LOOKS IN A BEARISH MODE, BUT IT IS STILL HOLDING AT THAT 135 - 133 ZONE.

HAVE A NICE TRADING SESSION.

I HAD MENTIONED PREVIOUSLY, THAT JAIPRA ASSOCIATES HAS BEEN TAKING SUPPORT AT 133 AND ON 12-05-09 IT TOOK SUPPORT AT 132 AND YESTERDAY THAT IS 13-05-09 IT TOOK SUPPORT AT 135.

AND LOOK AT THE RESISTANCE, YESTERDAY IT TOOK RESISTANCE AT 146, AND I HAD MENTIONED IM MY PREVIOUS POST, THAT 145 IS THE WALL.

FROM 146 JAIPRA ASSOC REVERSED STRONGLY TO CLOSE AT 137.

LETS SEE IF TODAY IT HOLDS ABOVE ITS CRUCIAL SUPPORT ZONE OF 132 - 133 OR GIVES WAY FOR THE BEARS.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR VIEW ON JPASSOCITAES.

HAVE A NICE TRADING SESSION

Appu,

For Intraday You Will Need To Have The Intrday Chart Infront Of You On 5 Min Time Frame.

I Am Assuming That You Don't Want To Follow The Crossover & BB System

In That Case You Will Have To Observe The Chart For 3 Consecutive Higher Lows & Higher Highs Take The Range By Subtracting The Last High From The First Low You Can Take A Long Position Somewhere In The Middle Or Less & Keep The Last Low As The S/L

Similarly You Do For Going Short With 3 Consecutive Lower Highs & Lower Lows.

Re: JPASSOCIATES, Any View On It??????

Nishikant,

There Are Funds Which Have Taken A View Of 280+ On This Therefore It Will Be Difficult To Break The Support, Except If The Market Goes Into Itermediate Down Trend.

Moreover, It Is Also A Big Trading Stock.....So That Lends Some Support On Gap Down.

Re: selling

egment be it cash or margin or margin plus or futures or options, basically margin and margin plus are trades in which you leverage the money you have to take a position which is 'x' times more than the money you have in your trading account, for ex. in sharekhan I can get into a position of 10k with just 2.5k in my trading account.
Okay so obviously there is a time for which you can hold for the margin which depends on the segment you are trading in, for ex in the cash segment brokers will generally allow you to hold the margin only till end of day or for T+2 days which is all dependent on the broker, in the futures segment you can have the margin till the contract expiry but futures has its own requirement wherein your MTM losses should not increase x% or else the broker will square off your position if you are not able to add more money to increase your margin.
But margin trading is very very risky as losses start mounting and can wipe out your entire capital really soon if you're not careful, so keep a very very tight Stop Loss (which is the price at which you have decided enough is enough and you exit a loss making trade, this has to be set as soon as you get into the trade).
For your second query yes you can sell the shares without delivery which means a SHORT sell i.e you don't have the shares actually in your account but you sell them, but you will have to square off your position i.e buy the stocks (same as the number of shares you sold) the same day before trading ends.

Hope I cleared your query to some extent (and created lots more in your head), because my friend you are always learning in the Stock Market so don't worry and if you are new to the market my suggestion would be don't go in for Margin Trading as you will not even realise and may reduce your capital in a short span of time.[/QUOTE]

I have my account with icici direct , when i go for short sell in it in cash segment.
it replied u don't have shares in ur demat account, what does it mean..
what is the correct procedure of short selling.
pl tell me...

Re: selling

Vikas,

I Have Repeated This So Many Times Before, Now I Have Lost Count Of It.

Please Don't Have Your Trading & Demat Account With Any Banks.

Simple Reason Being They Are Rip Offs.

Convenience Of Having Your Savings Account In The Same Bank Is No Reason To Have Your Trading & Demat Account.

Now Coming To Your Particular Question, They Are Simply Not Allowing You To Short Sell If You Don't Have The Shares In Your Account.

I Have No Idea If That Is Their Rule, You Will Need To Check With One Their Customer Service Executive.

Hi Mr.Sawant, I have bought the following shares this week kindly advise the exit price or to hold for long.
1. Mundra port 125 shares @ 415 current price 462
2. Bombay Dyeing 251 sjares @ 201 current price 210
3. Larson n Toubro 28 shares @ 923 current price 947

If the stocks can go up i want to hold, if these are volatile stocks or there will be some panic or crash after 16th, I prefer to sell it on 15May, your advise will help me to reach a decision. Highly appreciate your time, advise and competent view.
