Chitanya,

Me also with IseeSquareD, hopefully not for long ..

You want to put a stoploss to sell some stock which is already in your portfolio and your demat account or you want to short sell?

Also, confused about the margin question - margins are only for intraday.

Hi Enygma,

I am taking about Options:)...

Suppose i have a lot of Nifty bought at 100rs and i want to sell it at say 120 and the CMP is 105. How do i set the option to sell the price at 120? can we set a trigger in Options so i can set a trigger to sell my stock at 120? If yes,
I want to know how to do it using ICICIDIRECT?

Now, Coming to Margin(i am not even sure if it works this way), whenever one buys a lot with value x do we have to keep that extra value for the min margin?
ie Funds allocated=cmp of lot + some min margin

hope i got it in detail this time

Thanks

Vijayan,

There are atleast 3 kinds of initial buy triggers

- SMA 5 crosses over SMA6
- SMA 20 crosses over SMA 50
- Price closes above EMA20

Adds to initial positions happens
- After a retrenchement, trend has turned back to uptrend
- Price breakouts a two month high

This is perhaps not comprehensive. The AFL guys - Ken and Anant - can add more and ofcourse the system designer himself ...

Hi Enygma,

Given below is one of savant's post in this thread. For 5-6 crossover position is taken when the price crosses high of the previous day

"For Swing Trading I Would Recommend The Following Few, You May Adopt Whichever You Are Comfortable With:

a) If The Whole Candle Including The Wick Closes Above 20 EMA For Long & S/L Should Be If 70% Of The Candle Body Is Below The 20 EMA.

b) Second Strategy Is To Go Long 20/50 SMA Crossover, Where 20 MA Has Crossed Over To The Upside Of The 50 SMA

c) Third Strategy Is Go Long On 5/6 SMA Crossover

d) If Following Candlestick Pattern Then You Will Be Familiar With Bullish Engulf & Bearish Engulf Patterns.

e) Another One Is Based On BB If The Lower BB Is Pierced Followed By A Green Candle Immediately....For Long & If Upper BB Is Pierced Immediately Followed By A Red Candle To Go Short.

Ken

A plain limit order will work for your case. Using the square off link in open positions put a sell order with limit price as 120. Ofcourse, if the CMP is above 120, the order will be executed immediately. Note that you will have to do this every day in the morning, because of the limitation of our brokers :annoyed:

Whenever you buy options, you pay the entire premium for that option, so no additional margins are required. Margins are blocked if you sell options.

Pooja,

Positional is something close to my heart so could not avoid responding to this. While you are at defining your system - put out your entry and exit strategies clearly. I think you are using too many indicators, so try to define how you will be using each of this.

Ken has given a bunch of triggers that Savant's system uses above. You should atleast use 3 months but you should have a couple of years of weekly data atleast. Weekly data is required so that you know past resistances and supports - very important for positional. Do a backtesting of your strategy on few of stocks. The EMA20 system that is mentioned above has always looked very simple and powerful to me.

Savantji,

I wish to do Swing Trading (hold stock for 1-7 days). Will the system of 5/6 SMA crossover with bb 9,2 and macd on EOD data suffice for swing trading also. I buy on sma 5 crossing over sma6 and sell vice versa. Are there any other parameters that I should consider. Is there any other system for swing trading.

I am trying to study the charts on ICharts.in. What should be the time frame i select : 3 mths, 1 mth or lesser.

Thanks
Pooja

someone , Savant or Enygma or Ken... ????

What exactly is cost of carry ?..does it apply to futures ? or only options ?... and how does one interpret the data given ?

eg.. today closing ConCor has an increase in open interest by 400% ..closing 1185 with an increase of 1% in price ..CoC of -91.30 % with a previous CoC at -26.96%

Anyone please ?
