At 4615 damage was already done. Hedging just for 2morrow open in case of gap down. Saw the optiuons OI at NSE site and 4700CE covered some at closing time so sq off my PE and booked profit there. 4600PE gained OI at closing time showing some support at 4600 levels and 4600PE being #1 in OI for all options, I think should be respected.

Wrong as writer of 4700CE stands to lose more than writer of 4800CE in case market goes up. Inverse in case of PE writers.

CE/PE is Call/Put European meaning you cannot exercise the call/put inbetween. It can be done on last day of expiry itself.
CA/PA us Call/Put American whereas they can be exercised any day the owner wants to.
e.g. DLF 400CA can be exercised today to gain 413-400=13 rs.
Nifty 4600CE cannot be exercised till expiry.

hope this helps

:)
SE,
In view of the above explanation,i presume all call & put on stocks could be exercised any time while index could not.Am i right. Thanks

Hi Rangarajan,

It Was Suggested To Izzner Because I Know His Capital Base,

Fresh Trigger Happened On 19th When It Was Around 171.30...You Will Find It In The Stock Future Thread....

Anyways.....ICSA & SINTEX Has Been Showing Good Strength Even On Down Days.....I Would Suggest Observe Their Movement For A Few Days Before You Start Trading Them Intraday Or Positional.

Will Try & Post The Chart For Both Later In The Night.

One dumb question here. I understand that by positional trade it means taking delivery and selling it on the up and then averaging at some lower price again.
Couldnt understand how to trade a stock intraday, does it mean getting into margin calls, or futures?

Hi Tazzking,

Do Not Be In A Hurry To Average....There Will Be Lots Of Supply Around 38+

My Suggestion Forget Tracking It For Sometime...If It Comes Dow To A Nice Entry Level...Will Let You Know...But No Averaging Above 30.50

Only Small Quantity @ 30 Or Lower

Hi Daemonkane,

Intraday Trading - Here We Are Talking Specifically Equity

One Can BUY & SELL Without Margin...
If For Some Reason You Take Delivery...Just Give The Payment For The Same.

If You Have Sold Something From Your Holding e.g.

Scrip: A
Quantity In Your Holding: 100

Let Us Say With Above Supposition You Sell 50 Shares Of A @ 200 Bucks
& It Comes Down To 190 & You Decide To Buy Back.

Basically You Started With The Premise Of Exiting Some Quantity & Since It Came Dow Quite A Bit After Your SELL, You Decided To Buy Back & Perhaps SELL It Another Day...As A Result You Have Carried Out An Intraday Trade..Gaining Some Profit...Which Has Reduced Your Acquisition Cost By The Net Profit You Made Through This Intraday Trade.

Futures & Options Is A Different Segment....There Is No Settlement Period Unlike Equity Which Is T+2...

Here Is A Link From NSE Which Is A Study Material For Derivates Dealers But Is Useful In Knowing What & How Derivatives Segment Works.

Thank you Savant.
I am obliged & await yr analysis with charts.
Pl tell me one thing.
Any stock, however strong & trending up in intraday,it should meet its waterloo at one point & come down.
At that point,it is fit for short.
One could make profit either by long or short,at least theoretically.
For die hard shorts, how to locate the nearby res level. Any thump rule.
