Re: Stocks To Keep A Close Eye On - Chapter II

SM sir.

45 scrips????

Hope you are following position sizes indicated by Savant.
Brother Prasad, But each in small qty. Invested 3 to 5 thousand for each. But iam facing problem in monitoring. Hence, I put all the stks in Portfolio of rediff.com which provides me with updated profit/loss position & latest prices all the time. Plz sugggest me is it wise to hold so big portfolio or i shall put my money only in a few stks which r trending up. Iam in confusion. Will it be wise further 2 buy stks as per new triggers which will make my portfolio more bigger. I expect a suggested reply from Mr SG & all my friends.Thanks..SM

Dear Anant, ABG Ship bot on 15 Sep @ 262.80, now 235 & SL is 216.05. It took Sup at 185 on 26 Aug (above 15MA) & now above 50MA but Below 20MA & daily and weekly both r dn trend. Please suggest in this situation shall i buy some qty to average or not. I shall act according 2 ur direction. I have invested in 45 stks asper CH-II. Prices of some r much below. Do our system permit 2 buy in lower price to average? Ur reply is most welcomed..SM
Sibu Da,

ABGSHIP is in down trend. It gave Buy Signal on 26-08-09 when it closed @ 203.15 and it should have been bought on 27-08-09. I don't know why you bought on 15-09-09 at that price. The current SL is 230 and has closed still above the SL. It may go up but if it goes below 230 then it is a Sell. Therefore, if you want to add more, wait for it to break the SL and when it reverses after that break down, you can go in for more purchase. Right now it is not worth purchasing more.

SM sir,

What I have learned is that

Ideal portfolio size is 10-15 stocks.
Risk per stock = 1% to 1.5% of total capital
and over all portfolio risk = 5 to 8%

are the prudent limits.

so, in your case assuming your total capital is approx. 2 lakhs, your exposure in ABG should have been

entry @ 262 and stoplos @ 213 => risk is 49 Rs.

assuming a risk % @ 1.5 % your total risk in this stock should be 2 lakh 1.5%
= 3,000/-

so, no of shares you should have bought is 3000/49 = 60 shares, that is total investment of RS. 262 X 60 = 15600/-

If you calculate this way, the No. of scrips in your portfolio, would come down to 10-12 scrips.

Savant sir can guide you better in pruning your portfolio.

BTW, how come you have entered in to that stock on 15th sept. when the original trigger was given long back?

Dear Anant, From ur watch list i bot small qty of Optocircuit @ 200.10 & PTC @ 89.10. May i request U for target & SL for them? If not, plz suggest me what should be best course....Thanks......SM
Sibu Da,

I have clearly mentined not to trade these scrips in watch list. Keep in watch list means just observe how the price is going to move in coming days. These are posted here just to kep a track of these scrips. I am studying a system and I wanted these to be kept separately from my other triggers. There are no rules yet formulated for Target & Stop Loss.

Posting them here will help me in getting feed back from seniors like SG who can spot the trends and I can compare their triggers with my results.

As you have already purchased the scrips, just keep them for some more time and watch. You may be benefited, but not guaranteed. Hurriedly exiting also may prove harmful if they really go up. So, at present, just hold them for now and watch.

I REQUEST YOU NOT TO JUST JUMP AND BUY. READ THE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY, DO YOUR POSITON SIZING BASED ON MONEY MANAGEMENT AND ENTER

Regards

SM sir,

another way to look at it is,

assuming your investment allotted to each scrip is 5,000/-

your total risk per scrip is 1.5% x 5000 = 75 Rs.

so, you should have invested in one share or maximum 2 shares of ABG ship which entails a total investment of 260- 520 Rs. only and not 3,000/- to 5,000/-

so, I once again suggest you to have a relook at your portfolio and take the suggestions of SG.

cheers.
