Thomas DeMark Sequential System

I am posting Apollo Tyres daily chart with sequential and combo markings. In my chart the set up itself is not correct as it has a flip on 8th setup bar....but as these are just 20-25 paise flips, there could be data variation.

I am assuming that the setup in your chart is correct. Based on that Seq markings are done in Red and Combo in Blue.

If there is no set up, then we have one small set up completed just 4-5 days back...so it is just a case of a set up completion and earlier TDST holding.
Hi ST, this is good discussion. If we can track a script which is showing different results in different platforms, it makes it easier to follow the code and fix it. Fixing it generically for all situations will be the right approach but is much more difficult without understanding each line of the code. If you can provide definitive comment on Apollo and a couple of other scrips I mentioned in the list above, I can go about tracing things. In the process, I might re-lookup or re-ask questions about advanced rules (anything beyond comparing bars 4 or 2 bars earlier), but that will be helpful in getting a better AFL for all of us.

Ohi, Ohi

Dear ST

You know my respect for your future trading knowledge and there is nobody else in this forum I respect more than you when it comes to that.

But really let me ask these: You are really sure you want to post on such a chart?

It may is a really mistake with your screen shot link but do not let get us to daily busyness by watching such a toilet paper screenshots.

As always: Al the best and good trading

Thanks for your kind words, Dan.

The chart posted is still looking very clear on my computer and it is from my trading terminal and it had efforts of more than 1 hour in marking sequential and combo bars. During saving and uploading the image, the image size got small and probably that is the reason the bars got overlapped which I realised when I saw the chart in the post . It was near 12:00 in the night redoing the chart was not possible as I was too tired. So the choice was delete the post and the chart or let it remain and post that the new chart will be posted tomorrow. I took the second choice as for persons like Ritesh or SJD who have done markings on their charts, they can compare their charts with my chart till I post the fresh chart.

I am extremely sorry for the pain and agony the chart has caused to you.

Best wishes and Happy Trading as always....

Hi Dan,
Paul - Have not been in touch with him since he went private. I did not like his on again off again attitude so did not feel like contacting. However, now that you remind me of him, I realize that the reason I developed some faith in technicals was because of him and that's a great help he did. Maybe I will write to him over this holiday season - if you email to him at his user id here @ gmail dot com - that should get to him.

E1 - Talked to him almost a month back. He was doing ok except for some back pain. I do not have his email, just a phone number. Would you want that?

Posting TD Sequential buy set up and countdown on dailt chart of Apollo Tyres.
The chart is done on the bhavcopy data taken from NSE...this can be taken as official data.

Note that sequential identified the bottom and the buy is when we get a close >open on or after 13 countdown.

@ SJD...this close > open ( or a positive candle ) works well...if youwait for the price flip, your entry gets delayed and we sacrifice much of the prive move and our stops go far to that extent.

While on this, want to share a very important tool called Set up Qualifier. In case of buy set up, the low of 9th set up day should be less than the low of 6th set up day. This relationship is normally there but in some cases it is not satisfied ( but it does not reduce the importance of set up in any way) and the qualifier says that if this relationship is not there, then in next 3 bars from the 9th bar, the market will break the low of the 6 th set up bar. Just see that in this case, the low of 9th set up bar is NOT lower than low of 6th set up bar and the qualifier becomes operational. Just see that in next 3 rd bar the market broke the low of the 6th set up bar. This works great even on smaller timeframes such as 3/5 or 15/60 min also and I have traded this setup qualifier even in intraday. It has a success rate of 80-85 %

So in Sequential chart I find that the AFL identified 13 countdown on same bar as ours.

There is another version where for 11,12 and 13 countdown bar all that is required is that the closing is successively lower. This version also has a good success rate.

I have posted the same Apollo Tyres daily chart with Combo markings. Note that Combo identified the exact low of the move and gave a buy on Terminal Count (on comparing open to open) .

It is therefore advisable to run Sequential and Combo togather to identify low risk buy/sell.....they don't speak too often but when they both speak, it pays to listen carefully and act on it.

Thanks ST for the charts, explanation and the time spent.

The biggest learning though is your statement above that AFL matched your counts. A big relief.

I have also been poring over the AFL code, still early days but the code is written well so there may not be a bug on the countdown aspect. I still intend to modify the AFL to print the countdown and see if I can parameterize to do both combo and countdown. One step at a time.

BTW, which software did you use to get the counts - or is it manual work?
