Trading as Profession

Hi Shaju,

I was a doctor by profession.......but the last many years have been trading for my daily bread.

To cut a highly tedious long story short, trading was my passion, medicine was my profession.Used to work mornings and trade the US markets in the nights......But once regular profits started to come in,and the income was much, much more from trading than medicine,at a certain point,it became ridiculous to hold on to something that I was not that bothered about anyway.......Medicine gave way to full time trading.

Have I felt that I should run back to Medicine at any time? Not so far....

Is it all a bed of roses? No way.The months when you don't earn from the markets, you wish that you were a doctor earning a regular income,or a trader giving some seminars,or making some money off newsletters, etc. There is a lot of pain that you have to endure,it's a tumultous path to huge incomes.........But if you can sort it all out,and you have a set capital to fall back on,and you have an understanding family, nothing beats this path.

Would I change this for anything in the world? No way!!

Should you quit your job and take up full time trading?Well, for a start, trade part time and see if you have what it takes to do this.Meanwhile build up a good capital, not only capital to trade, but something that you can fall back upon. And then see..........if you have the capital, and all the rest that is required off you and the guts to travel this path, welcome to the club.

All the best!

Trading is the only source of Income for few of our members & am doing it since 6 yrs only. This path initially is difficult to adjust with, mounting losses will Tell on you, family responsibility has to run smoothly while you may be on the verge of bursting from the seam.A balanced cool head with single most focus & lots of mid night oil burning capacity can only bring you out from the pits.
A simple trading system, patience , conviction to act at right opprtunate moment, with agressive trade management are few skills which will automaticaly develop on process.
When a Big Win & continuous small Loss becomes a non event after some time ,with an adrenaline detached approach ,then you will come to know that it was indeed a nice decision to choose this as Living.[/QUOTE]

hi asish, can you explain this in details with some statistics?
Could not follow, would you plz elaborate.

shaj i dont know whether it is advisable or not for you to leave job for full time trading but definitely i have left the job to do something meaningful. later on i landed in trading. this is a challenging job with many times strong winds flowing against you. you have to be on your strong footings so that you are not swept away with the winds. however certain level of security is must before u come full time. best of luck

Like they say experience is a comb life gives you when you are bald.......have you noticed that you can get a loan from any bank if you can prove to them that you have sufficient resources to do without that loan...........trading is a profession which will give you enough and more to live with, provided you have sufficient means to live comfortably even without any income from trading !!

hi Chintan
sorry for not checking the link myself. there seems to be problem with the site.

but you did not go thru the wikipedia link. proprietory trading can at worst be consisdered a KPO, but never a BPO. Check this:
http://www.trading-lab.com/forums/so_you_want_become_proprietary_trader-t133.html?. In India they do not ask to clear any examinations etc. or deposit any money.

I never worked for any firm and have been trading for a living for the last 4 yrs. But I have friends who work for firms and shall surprise by their success even "good" traders here. (pls. note that in trading success is a synonym for money).

BTW this link works : .........
even swift trade has opened branches in many cities in India and China.
ALso dont mistake Swift :D as a call centre. the names which I have given follow global standards.

ohh... no chance of annoyance my friend. :)
........... Also work environment at theese firms is highly performance oriented. Work time is between 7pm to 1:30 am but they let u go back even in 2 hrs. if ur performance is good. (As many daytraders work only during opening hrs.)so even work hrs. are not a problem.
