Shaj,

Things are very fine when you make money in the market that too when you start fresh as a Trader, I too was of this opinion when I made money. But one big loss brought me to ground reality.

I'm also from IT field and went through the same feelings that you had. But my suggestion is do it simultaneously without quitting your job. Once you make good money, maybe a couple of crores you may quit your job, my intention here is it is good to have an alternate career plan, trading is a good alternate career plan, continue in your job and simultaneously trade for a period of 10 ~ 15 yrs, by the time which you would be very wise and rich and then take a call . Cheers

there's something called entrepreneurship...risk taking....and business. will you start a law firm tomorrow. If yes, and you are not a lawyer, then you can start trading tomorrow. and yes if you do both trading and your job expecting to excel one day and become a pro, sorry buddy! thank god tendulkar doesnt think of writing code at an IT company and play cricket in the afternoon, dreaming to play in the world cup.

Well, leaving the current job would prove risky for you at a time when the market goes down.Do not mix up your profession with your passion.Do not take decision in a hurry. I work for a MNC as a Team Leader but my passion is online trading and technical analysis of the stocks. I do not mix up my current profession with my passion. I do trading during the day time and work in a call center in the nights. I am planning to take up Investments Management, but before getting into the depth of the industry, you should feel the pulse of it, infact that is the reason I do not give up with my current job.

As Saint suggested do not jump in unless you have all the capital required to sustain yourselves,an understanding family and a grit and gumption to overcome all the hurdles in life.

All the best !!!!!

Dear beginner, krishna

Each is entitled to his/her own opinion.

I dont see any reason why I cant continue my job and trade, I have been doing it for the last couple of years succesfully. For me, trading is not a living but only a means to make some extra money. I have the security of my job when the market goes down and it will take care of all my EMIs and other necessities.

For every Steve Pavlina, there is a Craig who wouldnt quit their jobs/professions -- http://www.swing-trade-stocks.com/trading-business.html

Cheers

Well, you have been trading couple of years and you STILL think that 'market going down' is a bad thing, indeed you need the 'security of your job'.
