Hi @TracerBullet,
Little off topic, but can I ask you which programming language one should learn if the objective is to learn coding of custom indicator s or plugin for pi/Kite?.
I have never coded before, except for excel formula s :)

Regards
kite/pi - i dont know, they must have some documentation somewhere for pi. i have never written indicators.

@TracerBullet Thanks for the prompt reply.

Since you have already coded Order man, you must have an idea about popular codebase used for most of the trading software s like nest, now and pi etc.

I want to devote some of my time towards learning to code, and would love to learn a code base which has good community among traders.

Regards

Has to be python, we have a python client as well for Kite connect. Check out https://www.quantopian.com/, good place to get started.

Thank You @Zerodha for chipping into the discussion and for the info.

@Tracerbullet now this post in not offtopic anymore, as Zerodha endorsed the value of query and provided a informative link :D

@Zerodha what if I want to develop some plugin/indicator for pi or say I want to add a GUI element like a Zoom button on pi chart, Then what is the prerequisite knowledge required to achieve this sort of modification.

I have read on modulus website for M4 module on which pi is based on, they say

"M4 is a white-label trading application which comes with programming libraries and C# examples for modifying the appearance and functionality."

But here you are advocating python. Bit confusing for new coder:confused:

Zerodha,

We need Bracket Order for MCX.
People Running Indian Trading League has already got that for mcx 1 year ago.

Why don't you get it approved for Zerodha Pi or Kite? What makes MCXIndia to approve it for ITL and not for Zerodha???

You mean Raff Regression?
Channel fill is there.

There are lot of features which are there in Kite and not in pi and Vice-Versa.

I specifically miss overbought- oversold level lines and volume underlay in pi.
hi id4trade,

Yes,indeed.

In PI if any indicator is plotted ,say,Bollinger Band, the TOP line and BOTTOM lines are plotted as mere lines.
Whereas in KITE the lines are plotted PLUS the area between top&bottom are
filled with transparent colour.

Price Ladder in all software whether PI or Kite or ....... is badly required.
It gives a bird eye view ,how many bidders/buyers are in queue ,at various
PRICES.It fits into definition of Market Depth perfectly.Giving mere top 5
bidders / buyers does not solve the purpose.
NSE only give top 5 by default no extra charge. Level 3 is available up to 20 place but extra money ..tickbytick theoretically should show entire depth again lot of money unless NSE decrease pricing we are not gonna get it
