Hi Zerodha,

if I buy stock on dips , how to find average price ?

say,

I buy stock1 - Qty 10 on date1 @200 RS
I buy stock2 - Qty 20 on date2 @100 RS
I buy stock1 - Qty 30 on date3 @20 RS
I buy stock2 - Qty 40 on date4 @300 RS
I buy stock1 - Qty 50 on date5 @50 RS

how do I find Average buy price of stock1 , Average buy price of stock2 and their total quantities from BACKOFFICE ?Is there any quicker workaround through backoffice ?
Have you seen the holdings on the backoffice? That will give you average price buying price.., will confirm your query by tomorrow.

Dear Zerodha,

how long it'll take to get the backoffice multi browser support ?

its very much irritating to open backoffice in IE......lot of inconvenience.

Please make your backoffice multi browser support.
We have been lucky for bunch of guys we have associated.

Our BO guys got bought over by omnesys and for all those who don't know Omnesys has recently been acquired by reuters, so my guess is technology should be on the way up.

Beta testing the new version of BO on all browsers, so sooner than later now.

Re: Position carry forward - doubt

Dear Zerodha,

Yesterday (30/08/2013) I shorted 1 lot of Nickel Mini 30 Sept expiry @930.60. The close price was 925.90. The same was carry forwarded, but with the close price as my sell price, not 930.60. Also how is the profit/loss calculated, is it daily or at the time of square off?

Please correct me if I am wrong.

Regards,
Zerodha,

Any advise on this issue?

On the terminal, all prices today will show based on yesterday's closing price and not the price at which you bought/sold.

In futures, there is an everyday marked to market(profits credited and losses debited). So typical process is that if you shorted at 935 and market closed at 920, your profits will be credited to your trading account and the new price for tomorrow will be the closing price..

Hopefully this clarifies..

Suppose I have two lots of Nifty 5800 put and on expiry nifty is at 5500 and I do not sell my option at expiry.
Then how do you settle this in the money option? Do I get 2*300*50 i.e 30,000 profit or do you charge brokerage per lot and so do I get 30,000-2*20?

thanks.
You get back Rs 300 * 50* 2, i.e 30,000 but after deducting all charges. The brokerage will still be only Rs 20, but the STT goes for all buy options expired in the money. Check this blog for that: http://www.zerodha.com/z-connect/blog/view/stt-options-nse-bse-mcx-sx
