Zerodha - Number One Discount Broker in India

Hey price, thanks for the research on various topics and ur posts in this thread.

EXCEPt :} for this one, which borders on insanity.

3 points out of 50

It is more than 3 points during last week of exp. For little higher price option ( 80-120 pt) it looses even 6-10 pt per day during range bound market.
If intraday margin block is less (like 5k, we can sell huge lots and make good profits).

1) option selling is the riskiest form of trading, bar none.

We don't face gap up or gap down in intraday, so here the risk is less.
Also a day trader who successfully trade with nifty futures every day, he used to the market movement. We already buy and sell nifty futures many times. :D

2) lol, u mean someone at zerodha will pre determine "range bound" days

Yes, experienced day traders can predict the range bound market to some extent after comparing various time frame charts. They can see the market as a whole. They change there strategy and indicators according to it. Some advanced traders use swing trade with options too only in the buy side. There are various traders exits in this world and you don't know all of them. :p

3) every brokerage firm that does go broke, gave out too much margin (to themselves or their customers) at some pt.

Please understand my view is only for intraday not positional. For intraday 5000 means 100 point, too much for a option. They can square of whenever capital goes below 80% like they do for MIS position for Nifty Future. All of brokers using cover order facility for Index Future where risk is less. There is mot much risk as they can cut off loosing trades even at 70% during intraday. Still we can get a benefit of 70 pt approximately for a Rs 100 option. There is NO gap up or down in intraday so it is definitely possible. Brokers already stop such margin facility during volatile day when there is RBI announcement or budget etc.
They can discuss and change the parameters for Stop Loss.

I think I have tried my best. Please note, the risk is different for Intraday when they square off all position 10 min before market closing or cut off position with 80% loss.

If im wrong or have misunderstood, i apologize.

Have a good week everyone.
My answers in Red. Thank you for raising the topic again. I think, my view is more clear now.

I am little late (10 min) for sleep for this post, still I make it finished for you.

Happy Trading and Best Wishes.
Cheers.

Hi, Zerodha

I woud like to know the logic of your monetizing the online support system, rarely followed by most of your peers. To elaborate, in case of a client, on emergencies like system failure/delay, seeking your support team over telephone to square off a position or place an order, you debit Rs.22 plus to the client's account. Sometime, a mere enquiry about the transactions or so costs the client same amount. I believe this is unfair, particularly to traders with limited funds, as they are making the call at their expense (telephone charge).

I am sorry to bring this issue again, had it been discussed earlier

zerodha,

Today i placed a SL-M Buy order to buy TCS Oct Fut with trigger price 2085.20 around 2 pm, although TCS Future never reach to that level after 2 pm(even after 11:30 am), but my order got filled at 2:18 pm at 2086.25, How can it possible?
Please look at the data table High at 2:18 pm was 2084.55,( i also check at NSE website the high at 2:18 pm was 2084.55 ) then how my order got triggered and filled at 2086.25 ?
Reenu,

No platform, unless you are probably running your platform on the NSE collocation servers(even then not everything) can show you all the trades that happen on the exchange. If there are 10 trades that happen in 1 second, only 1 will be shown on the trading platform, it is not possible in the technology that exists to show more than that.

But I guess you will be able to cross verify the same trade on the NSE website and see that it actually executed. This is a common query that we face when people are using SL-M on stocks whose liquidity is lesser than that of NSE, so a bunch of small market orders could have pushed the price up for a fraction of second and not captured on the data table or on the charts.

Fairlinks,

We don't charge you for any queries, the charge is only if you execute a trade over the phone.

There is an effort that goes into having a 40 dealer support team taking orders, hence this needs to be monetized.

But just to clarify, the charge is only for executed orders and not for placing/modifying or if you call asking for any queries..

@Zerodha

When i sell shares available in my demat account will the cash be added to my account immediately or will i have to wait for T+2 days to get it?

Hi

Is there a way to refresh nest plus chart without closing and reopening it. I am asking this as at times it keep on updating one ccandles.

Thanks
Yes, this is possible. Here's how you can do it.
1. Press (Ctrl + Shift + P) or click on Tools > Nest Auto Plugins
2. Click on Refresh.

This will fix the update issue on Nest Plus and you can start seeing new candles. For this to work, make sure you're on version 1.6.0.0 of Nest Plus on Zerodha Trader 3.10.57.97.7

If you are not on version 1.6.0.0, you can update it by downloading this package and replacing it in C:\\Program Files\Omnesys\Nest3
