Dear Sachin
or
any one using NOW with different system time than IST

I am in USA now. If I set my system time to local ie., USA(PDT), then in NSE NOW,I get local time as last traded time. This I checked in both my vista laptop and windows 7 PC. When I contacted ZERODHA customer care, so far three persons replied, but still no satisfactory results.

My emails with them are shared here.

Subject: time in watchlist
To: Zerodha India <[email protected]>

At present I am in USA.
Inspite of selection of exhange time option, I get local time in watch
list. See the screenshot attached.
Why it happens?
My id is XXXXXX.
Any solutions to get exchange time.

----------------------
Kindly follow the below procedure to change the time setting in your system.

Right click on the system date and time. Select system time zone and change it indian standard time (IST).

---------------------------------------
Dear Vinay,
I know how to change system time.
What I asked was why NOW shows system time when exchange time is selected in preferences. Is this a bug/flaw in NOW? Or am I missing something? If it is a flaw it should be corrected.
I can not change system time which is essential locally for many other purposes.
----------------------------
Kindly select NSE instead of all as your preference in the general settings as highlighted in the below screen print and apply. This will resolve the issue, please revert incase of any disconnects. We will rise the issue with NSE.
--------------------------------
Dear Vinay,
You could have saved a mail and speeded up the error rectification process if you have tried what you suggested with diffrent time settings in your end. Though I have tried with both NSE and NFO, I am sending screenshot of your suggestion and it does not work. Kindly do talk concerned developers of NOW and post the solution or ask them to rectify the error.
--------------------------------------
Thank you for writing to Zerodha Customer Care.

Please press Ctrl + P to get the preference window. On the preference window please click on General and select the "From System Date and Time" and apply and OK.

Please revert for further clarification

Thanks and Regards,
Vijay

Kindly read my previous posts or ask Vinay.
I think before replying to a post, you should have seen the history.
I have started from there. Your post has no meaning.
I hope zerodha customer care wakes up.

Apologies for the disconnected reply sent by our executives. Since we have different executives replying to the same messages, sometimes the same reply may come twice. We have observed that there is a bug in the software where the timing that is displayed on the software is only the exchange time - even if a user chooses to update time based on system time. We're looking into this and will have a solution soon.

I wouldn't be surprised if this is a deliberate move - in the sense, the system doesn't allow you to change the update times so that you are aware of time trade times based exactly on the exchange time. We will keep you updated on this.

Warm regards,
Hari
---------------------------
Dear Mr.Hari.
I think the problem is otherway around. Software NOW always shows system time irrespective of selection in preferences. It does not show exchange time. What about Zerodha trader? Does it also behave similar way? I am yet to get ZT.
------------------------------------
I've checked with our developers and it has been clarified that the option for you to view the exchange time or system time is given only for the top of your screen. It doesn't necessarily change your feed times, etc.

So to clarify, if you select the option to 'display time' it does so only on the top of your screen. Nothing else changes.

Warm regards,
Hari
-----------------------------------------
Dear Mr.Hari
Thanks for your effort.
But is it not necessary that feed time should be exchange time?
If a person goes abroad, he has to change system time for various reasons, I hope you know.
I think feed time shown in watch list should be exchange time not system time.
Kindly take it up with developers.
Is it exchange time or system time in zerodha trader watchlist? If system time, kindly advice them to change it to exchange time, as all your clients are being shifted to it.
With Regards

There seems to be a lot of confusion on what your requirement is. We are unable to understand through email to be able to provide you the support which we would love to.

Please give us a call on 080-40402020 during market hours and speak to any of our agents who will be able to understand your requirement and help you resolve the issue. The exchange of emails seem to be confusing to understand the matter of concern.

Thanks
Hari
---------------------------------------
Dear Mr.Hari
I am unable to understand where the confusion is?
As I am in USA, It will be difficult for me to contact you.
My simple requirement is that watchlist in NOW should show exchange traded time in last traded time column for any last traded price. But is shows local time of my computer here. Hence NOW software should be rectfied of this error.
I hope I have made clear.
---------------------------------------------
Thank you for reconfirming your problem. We are kind of clueless in fixing this issue for you. Would it be possible for you to share you computer screen with our technical staff so we can view it and try the necessary options to provide you a solution? Without having access to your screen it would be quite impossible to fix your issue considering the fact that you have already tried the option to 'get feeds' as per exchange time and not system time.

Warm regards,
Hari
-------------------------------------------------
Dear Mr.Hari,
Problem is in NOW software. It should be general to all. Hence access to my machine is not going to solve the problem.
Change the system time in any of your PC with Windows 7 and NOW to any other time zone , say USA Eastern daylight saving time and see whether last traded time is system time or exchange time in NOW.
This will show problem is general and pertains to NOW not to my machine.
I request you contact NOW developers to check what I have stated above.
With regards,

Please talk to your persons.
I think this is not the way to care for customers. Number of your customer care persons are not important, but their quality of response.
Kindly find a solution. Problem lingers for 12 days.

Both Equity and Derivatives are from the same exchange - NSE and hence there is not need to transfer anything. Limits available can be used for Equity/Derivatives trading.

It is when more than one exchange is involved, we have to withdraw and then transfer back.
So for NSE to BSE we have to withdraw to bank first and then transfer again?

Didn't realize, send an email to [email protected] and we will send the mac version on your email, should be available in the download section on our website by end of day..

Both mac and linux versions...
Thanks for both versions.

do we have to select either of the versions? can we not use windows and linux based versions together?

PS. I'm not asking about simultaneous logins but subscription policy to both versions at any given time.

ya..thanks.. it is on the website..
mac version of ZT..
Big thank you
but one issue..it is not opening...API access denied..

Any specific issue?

Heard that one can not use ZT of mac version if he is using ZT of windows version..

is that true?
I am also getting the same message "Login failed. rejection reason: API user access denied.".
We have 2 accounts & I would like to be able to trade on either MAC or Windows platform, with only one login per a/c at any time, depending on which place we are working from (due to power issues).

Would that be possible?

Its not a flaw. To get correct exchange time you will have to change your system time to India time (GMT+5:30), as the market watch will show India time relative to your location (GMT+.... or GMT-.... ). The NOW market watch does not take time from system time. To check for yourself, change your system time to India time (GMT+5:30) and then put the system clock ahead by 1-2 hours and see if the market watch time changes (it does not). This shows that NOW market watch does not take its last traded time from the system clock. But it seems to change according to your location set in your system time (GMT+.. or GMT-...). Hope you got what I am saying.

Thanks for your response.
I have understood what you are saying.
But I hope you will agree that the purpose is defeated. It should show Indian exchange time where ever a person lives and trades so that his database is uniform with respect to Exchange time. Showing local time has no meaning.

Here is something you can try. Before you open NOW.exe, set your system time to India time (GMT+5:30), only then open and log in to NOW.exe. After NOW has logged in, change your system time back to your local time. Hopefully that should work.

Zerodha,

Can you please clarify these doubts ?

Q1: Do you auto square off positions before expiry to avoid physical delivery hassles in Commodity Trading ?
Do you guarantee that all positions are closed before expiry date to avoid physical delivery hassles ? If so when you do that ? Is it 1 hr before the expiry time ? or whats your time ?

Q2: Does Zerodha trader provides MCX IEOD charts ?

Q3:How does a chart in Zerodha Trader different than NEST PLUS Plugin chart in NOW ? Do we get more number of days in intraday charts in Zerodha Trader than NOW NEST PLUS plugin chart ?

Q4: Is there any possibility to publish ZT Mobile this month ?
