Zerodha is the only brokerage house in the world, which add MTM over bought options......:clapping::clapping:....:mad:......everbody knows you can not lose more than option premium......:(
Let you have 10 K in your account, you bot options worth 6K , now if total loss is 4K, they calculate 6k bot + 4k MTM = total 10 K, now you cant buy anything......everbody knows you cant lose more than 6k.......

Hats off to them....they made my day..............:mad:

and I doubt they add profits to margin, I mean over 10K if you made profits of 2k, your total margin should be 12k, that day itself.......
I am facing the same problem....
MTM calculation is better understood with this example.

Consider buying CE options at 60.(2lots=100).

HTML:
Day.1(Same day) ended at 55. -500
Day.2 ended at 65 (65-55)*100 1000
Day.3 ended at 61 (61-65)*100 -400
Day.4 ended at 66 (66-61)*100 500
Day.5 Squared-off at 70 (66-70) *100 400
                                                   Total 1000
According to your Ledger ,it is (70-60)*100=1000.
This is same as your Broker ledger.

Zerodha Team: Why do you avoid answering such questions. There may be
issues with your system, but ignoring such issues will actually take you closer to likes of other brokers.

For platform issues, agreed you cant do much for NOW. But such issues you should respond, and clarify. It could be actually an issue with individual account, but if two people complain about something, and you completly ignore, shows no difference between you and crappy brokers like icici and its likes.

I small question. Can we put in a buy as well as a sell order on the nifty?. Some brokerages make us cancel the buy order before ccepting a sell order and vice versa, and its VERY irritating.

Yes, You can put buy and sell orders on the same scrip if you have enough margin in your accoun. In fact you can put as many as u want. Multiple buy/sell orders on the same scrip.t
