This bit of news seems to be true, however, I thinkwe missed a key point in it which says "To give some relief to stock market investors, the finance ministry is also considering a cut in the securities transaction tax (STT). It may finally decide while preparing the Budget in February. The intent is to rationalise STT and synchronise it with developed countries, said the official, adding 30-40 per cent could be considered."

Buzz is, the STT may be cut by 30-40 percent.

Re: Stamp Duty

Present Stamp Duty is charged at 0.01% [Rs 10/lakh] or Rs. 50 per contract note - whichever is lower, which definitely kills a small trader.
New Stamp Duty structure 0.003% [Rs 3/lakh] will benefit them, who's turnover less than 16lakh/day [16*3=48]. I think most of traders with zerodha would benefit.
For trading 1 lot NIFTY Stamp Duty would reduce from Rs50 to Rs15. For trading 2 lot Rs 50 to Rs 30. Good for small traders/beginners. :clapping:

Does the s/w "Now" provided by zerodha has provision to see intraday live charts with facilities to superimpose indicators. If so,is the display is fast & also w/o hanging problem.
I am presently trading in NEST where the facilities r available & fast too.
Do they provide any mock terminal for seeing.

But easier way to do would be to look at the SPAN margin file and keep in mind how much margin is required for 1 lot
That what exactly I asked whether we see the figure of (B) Margin balance in NSENFO column in SPAN margin file?

You mean (B) Margin balance amount under column NSE FNO should remain more 10k to trade 1 lot of NF. Bit confused now.

My main Question:

How to confirm in SPAN file that I have enough margin/cash to carry forward my position ?

To the strait point: which figure (amount) should remain what (?) in SPAN file to carry 1 lot of Nifty Future (NF50) and making sure it would not square off at 3 PM?
I am talking about (B) margin balance column under NSE FNO only.

Tell me strait forward instead of 10% or 40% . I assume it is by default calculated in SPAN file and will show you the figure.

Why do u want leverage when you dont have the funds to cover your position at end of the day...?

Leverage kills a trader. One reason most FNO traders dont survive this market is under capitalization. A trader with 25 K capital, trading 2 lots nifty futures cannot afford a 25 point stop loss as that will erode his capital by 10%. God forbid, if he hits 3 stop loss in a row, he is out of business.

Problem is, most such traders think their methodology is a money printing machine that cannot go wrong. the 80-90% accurate system traders are the ones who bust their accounts more often as they can afford to be wrong too many times. Leverage will only add a few nails to the coffin...!

This is to know only not to leverage any position. Everyone trades in their style.

So dont worry about that.

We should be aware about then margins etc. Different brokers have different MARGIN accont.

I still curious to hear from Zerodha though:)
