One question regarding the Zerodha Trading Challenge...

Say, I have 1.25L in my account... I have shorted 2 lots of Nifty 5500PE, 2 lots of Nifty 5500CE and 2 lots of Nifty futures on 14th February. The ledger balance would obviously show more than 1.25L at the end of the day. Zerodha challenge started on 15th February.

My question is what is the initial amount in my account on the beginning date of the challenge?
I think Zerodha team have mentioned that shorting of Options will not be included in the Challenge.

I recently enabled my currency trading..

I understood FUTCUR and OPTCUR
What are the rest FUTIRD FUTIRT INDEX OPTCUR UNDCUR UNDIRD UNDIRD
Also if I select index I am getting NIFTY/NIFTYFUTM1/NIFTYFUTM2/NIFTYFUTM3
What are these how is it different from normal nifty futures.
Somebody please explain or please point me to some resource or links
Currency Trading will deal with 2 currencies ,that is ,RUPEE and DOLLAR.
Since other currencies do appear in the list like JPY, GBP, and EUR ,it amounts
to FOREX trading.

As far as INDEX is concerned ,they are Nifty-Spot ,Nifty future (NiftyFUTM1)
Nifty future(next)[NiftyFUTM2] and Nifty future (far)[NiftyFUTM3].

Others ,I do not know.

I think Zerodha team have mentioned that shorting of Options will not be included in the Challenge.
Are you referring to the following contest rule?

5. Option premium received for writing (selling) will not be considered as a credit.

I think what it means is - The premium that one receives from selling option on the final date will not be considered for total profitability. But if you say options buying and selling is not considered for the challenge, you are mistaken.

I hope Zerodha/Sachin answers my question to clear all the doubts.

Hi Zerodha/Sachin,

Plz answer the following questions:

The Zerodha 60-day Challenge will start from your first trade on or after February 15, 2012. The contest will run for a total of 60 trading days. If the cash balance in your account on the 60th day is more than what it was on day one, you will get back all the brokerage you paid us during this period.

How do I know how much balance I have on day 1 if I have already done a FNO strategy and continuing with the same on February 15th?

Contest Rules:

1. Money transferred into your trading account during the contest period will not be considered. This means you can transfer funds to top up your limits, but it wont be added to your profits.

Say, I have 1 lakh in my account on 15th Feb.On 29th Feb, I add another 1 lakh to my account and at the end of the 60 day-period, I have 2.1 lakh free cash in my account. In that case I have won the challenge (I hope).

But if I have I invested 1.09 lakh in shares(delivery), and have 1.01 lakh as free cash at the end of the contest, will I be still eligible to win the contest?

2. Money received from the sale of shares from your demat account will not be considered for profitability.

3. Stocks bought for delivery will not be considered for the challenge. Only the cash and the f&o position value on the last day of the challenge would be considered.

4. Funds withdrawn from the trading account will be disregarded. This means that you can withdraw funds and it will still be considered for your profitability.

5. Option premium received for writing (selling) will not be considered as a credit.

My view on this is already mentioned in the post above.
