I checked NOW (browser based) version in IE8 and it is much better and faster than what is available with any other broker in the market. So that is the good thing.

I moved some of my holdings from HDFC Sec demat account to IL&FS demat account but was surprised to learn that one can't see the holdings in NOW screen. I was told on phone that one just has to check the IL&FS demat account to see how many shares are there and then sell the same on NOW manually and zerodha will take the shares from my IL&FS demat account for delivery. Similarly shares bought for delivery will be sent to my demat account. Can zerodha do something to change this and allow us to see the holdngs in NOW screen for those who occasionally deal in the cash market segment also.

Has anyone tried to install NOW software on a PC with Windows 7 64-bit edition? I asked Zerodha support on phone but they were not sure and told me to give it a try.

On the other hand I am glad that tomorrow I'll finally say goodbye to R.K. Global and be done with them.

Yes I have installed and tried NOW exe in Windows 7 its properly installed and working fine.

One thing to remember ..Install the software with administrator account and after installation when your are running it .. run it as administrator...

i like to know few questions:

what is the charge for dial and trade if the order placed through dial and trade but not executed?
what is the average waiting time for dial and trade?
how can i have a demo of now exe?
does nokia 5800 support mobile trading of NOW?

thank u in advance...
Call n trade of 20rs per executed order, no charge if it doesn't get executed, We are doing the business very clean and we expect all the clients to respond similarly. We hope that people won't starting to call us up to place limit orders far away from the market price...Not happening presently, but if it starts happening we will have to rethink about it....
Presently wait time is less than 30 seconds..
Nokia 5800 won't support NOW, you will need JAVA, Blackberry or Android operating systems...

Presently no partner in Kolkatta

Hi Starttrade, am still stuck with RKGlobal as I rely on ODIN for my basic charting needs. I have Tradetiger too but I find it a bit difficult to use if I want to view Nifty and individual scrip charts at the same time.
What do you use for your charting needs? Am not with Indiabulls anymore so am still stuck with RKG and have to pay them extra on a monthly basis to use their web and ODIN software.

Hi Sachin,
What is the margin requirement for shorting one lot of Nifty Options and holding the position overnight. Lets say, I short one lot of Nifty 6100PE. The closing price of the underlying is Rs.85.60. How much margin would I require to hold the position overnight?
I have never gone short so my knowledge is rather limited, particularly so w.r.t options. I guess the deal with Futures is different and the margin requirement is more.
For Shorting nifty options margin required depends on the strike price you are writing... The more in the money the option the more margin is blocked.. For writing 6100 PE the margin blocked for nifty at 85.6 should be around 26 k, but 85.6( around 4.5k) gets credited the next day morning...

We are putting up a spread sheet soon on margins required to write options(both intraday and positional) and will email out to you..

Also can zerodha add a list of all securities that ar traded in F&O segment on their site along with margin on each of those securities. RK Global has one such updated list available on their site every day at:

http://rkglobal.cmlinks.com//downlo...al/F O Margin Report 28-12-2010 Phase-1.doc

This list helps a lot.

Hi, About not being able to see your demat holdings on NOW , it is going to be fixed in the next few days.. Give it time till Jan 2nd, you should be able to start seeing all the holdings on the front end itself...

Margin report is sent as an email everyday, we have been getting requests on this, so we will start putting up on our site hopefully by next weekend onwards...

Cheers..

@Zerodha,
The spreadsheet would be of great help to noobs like me. So going short on the Nifty amounts to writing options, is it? I didn't know that.
Any idea what would be the scenario if the buyer exercises it before expiry?
Going by the same scenario that I mentioned, lets say 6100PE ends up at Rs.120 on expiry. What would be my liability if I am
1) Hedged.
2) Not Hedged.
Scenario 2 would basically mean that I wrote a naked put. I just don't know how Nifty options valuations are arrived at when exercised. Any link to some resource would be of immense help.
Thanks

Would I be able to see my derivatives(mainly options) positions as well directly through NOW?

@zerodhaonline

hi i am new to trading. It will be of great help if you could clarify a few doubts for me
1) do you guys have an office or branch in Trivandrum or anywhere in Kerala? :)
2) suppose i have 10000 rupees in my trading account, on Monday i buy 500 shares (delivery) of Rs 200 each when can i at the earliest sell the shares?
3) suppose i sell 500 shares (which i have already bought delivery) of Rs 200 each on Monday, when will i receive this money or when can i use this money to buy another company's share (delivery) at the earliest?
4) can i convert delivery shares to intra-day during market time, if i am able to do so will i be charged Rs 20 (for placing delivery order) + Rs 20 (for changing it to intraday)

:clapping: :clapping: thanking you in advance:clapping::clapping:
