Friends ,

NOW software does not have stop loss and target price setting option together when you place an order. It does not have bracket order facility....neither OneCancelOther(OCO) similar to ThinkOrSwim software.

How do you manage such situation in NOW ? Is there any way workaround to put stop loss to protect capital and also to put a target price ? How do you overcome this situation ?

I'm loosing capital because of no stop loss after placing order :(

Need expert help.
Hi MP,

Please don't blame NOW terminal. If you want to blame, plz. blame NSE. Coz, NSE is not allowing Bracket orders.

But, there is a workaround for this. You can place both target and SL at the same time. You have to do it manually. Here are the steps:

Here is an example of SBI trade:

1. Buy a share, SBIN @ 2000.

Once your buy order gets executed,

2. Press " - " or " F2 ". In the sell window Select Order type as "LIMIT". And then enter your target price, say 2100 and place the order.

3. Press " - " or " F2 ". In the sell window Select Order type as "SL-L". And then enter your SL price, say 1950 and place the order.

as soon as one of your order gets executed whether SL or your Target. Press "F3" and then cancel the other order manually.

Cheers.... Happy trading.:thumb:

What I have noticed is NOW has issues on Windows XP. I tried it on multiple boxes yesterday and it crashed on three XP boxes, one with SP2 and the remaining two with SP3.
It has run without any issues on Windows 7 so far. Will post if I run into any problems on Windows 7. I feel the issue is XP centric. Been facing it since yesterday and no amount of installing/reinstalling has helped. It either does not connect or crashes within minutes.
I am running in XP with sp3 without problem, not even a single disconnection.

Thanks Soft for the post. I know it can be done in two steps. But if you say, order 4 scrips ...you need to wait for these order execution first...then 4x2 = 8 such manual order you need to create ...also you need to constantly monitor to cancel other order manually if one is executed....if you miss somehow then there is a problem.

This is really stressful ... not Happy trading....Can not we think some other approach which could be an easy workaround ?

I'm not sure if everybody is following same technique. If anybody is using some other way ..please share....lets make life simpler.

I appreciate your suggestion . Thanks for the post.

I wonder what's the reason for NSE to not allow bracket orders? Sachin will know.

I know this is stressful. But what to do, these are rules placed by NSE itself.

If you trade in cash market then plz. wait for a few weeks because after Zerodha starts BSE trading, you will get the facility of Bracket orders with BSE scrips.

For FNO traders..... Still we have to wait... for NSE to enable bracket orders for retail traders in FNO.

The reason is NSE considers advance orders such as Bracket Order, Trailing SL as Algo trading instruments. So retail traders can't access the facility of these.
So Zerodha can call us all as sub-sub-brokers and open up these facilities, maybe.

this is not only stressful but dangerous if scrip is high volatile like banknifty, crude, gold, silver and also on days when spike happen in nifty, b/c if trading in more than 4 scrips, volatility come, then risk both orders execute in some scrip till you cancel one by one.

Please make Nest more user friendly.

Bracket Order would save us from double margin blocking for dual order (target & stoploss) that is also a big advantage. But it completely depends on NSE, Zerodha can't do anything as of now.

Lets 1ST concentrate on what is on Zerodha's hand.

-----------------

Some Important Sugeestion for Nest Terminal on Zerodha Trader.

1. Why maximum number of EMAs plotted on a chart is only 4?
We need more EMAs on a single chart like short term emas 3,5,8,13 etc with long term EMAs like 20,40,50,100,200,233 etc to determine trend. There must be no limitation on number of EMA lines.

2. Side by side TAB view very useful for faster scanning of same script chart with different time frame like 1min, 5min, 15min, 30 min just like MT5 terminal.

3. Enable 2 minute & 4hour time frames also, those are very useful time frames used by many traders.

4. Make Stoch window more effective so that we can plot (using drag) different stoch on same window. Like stoch (5,3,3) & (15,3,3) lines with different colors on same stoch window. Same for MACD (multiple plot)

5. Make MACD Window clear like Amibroker.

Please upgrade Nest Plus charts more user friendly as above.
Happy Trading with Zerodha. Cheers.
