Angel broking: Cheap brokerage and excellent service.

This guy looks even better and has more reputation... So are you happy with the customer care? I never tried ODIN and was extremely happy with KEAT from kotak... anyone know if ODIN is better or can compare with KEAT ???

I have used both KEAT and ODIN, I found ODIN is much better than KEAT.

Hi! Akash,

I believe Angel HO is in Mumbai & not in delhi. I would suggest you to speak to their QA Cell, they will certainly help you resolve all your grievances. I always got impression that, they are quite responsive to customer complaints. I am sure your concerns will be addressed. You can get contact details from Angel website. Cheers!

I posted a message to their grievance cell i.e feedback 2 months back telling them about the cheque problems I am facing.......my wrong address in their records (told same thing to their HO too who dnt care abt it).......non responsive staff member in their delhi branch.......limt issue.....

I only got a reply that we have changed ur address in our records thats it......which is still not correct....

What is the the intraday square off timing for Angel and also do they offer easiest facility from CDSL or Speed-e of NSDL?

by 3 P.M they start sending u msgs of auto square off if u have taken more than 4 times limit at leat that hapend with me.....nd while opening the account they said I could carry 8times fr BTST......nd when I started trading they said only 3 to 4 times nd for that also now they are creating all sort of Fuzz.....

I am afraid, I do not agree with you on ANGEL software and website. It is one of the lousiest software for technical analysis. Charts are terrible. Brokerage depends upon your negotiations. They are competitive but incorrect to say "CHEAP" as others are also offering in the same range.
Who said Odin is good for charting? the only good it is, is to place buy/sell orders. I use Amibroker for charting.

I have traded mostly with Angel, Kotak and Sharekhan.

Here is what I found:
Note that these are my experiences and may not hold true in your case.

Angel:

Hidden charges. (They promised they are very transparent, nothing could be further from truth).

Infact it went upto the amount of stealing money. Once paid advanced brokerage for 0.01% and they insisted on offline (phone) trade account only. I insisted on Odin, and then later found they were charging me the normal 0.03%. On pointing it out, I was told that I miscalculated and they suggested that I placed offline orders at different prices. Only when I informed them that I placed orders on ODIN, and have noted the exact amounts the trades were executed, they said that they would refund me the extra brokerage charged.
The brokerage was corrected to 0.01%, but I have not yet received the previous extra brokerage charged.

ODIN is a good software, but it is not developed by Angel, so no credit to them.
Connection is bad at times. disconnection atleast 3-4 times a day. On comlaint they ask me to check my internet connection. (Seriously this is the height of joke).
BackOffice: Often not updated. so you better keep a note of your trades or you would be in for a surprise.
Margin: Never use their margin or they will catch you at the exact wrong moment and make you lose money

Kotak:

Good company

KEAT - their software is a bit slow in executing orders and I would not recommend it for intraday trading.

Go for their trinity account (savings/demat/trading) that gives you a 0 balance savings account.

ShareKhan:

Charges are a bit steep.

But the most transparent I have seen. They clearly told me what they would do and what they would NOT do.

Backoffice is automatically updated and you can see every detail in it.

RM is usually available on Yahoo chat and phone during trading hours.

Hi Partha, you are right that ODIN may not be right for a trader who uses professional technical tools, but for a person like me who just wants to see historical price and movement, and use simple tools like EMA and trendlines, ODIN is a good application.

I found Sharekhan to be too costly, and truth is, at the end of the day cost of trade is very important, especially for a trader. I found Angel to be reasonable on the cost front, and their responsiveness to be good. I am somehat surprised to hear that you had a bad experience with them. My experience has been different, in fact, they trained me on using technical tools, although I do not have a conviction on using them for my trading purpose. I like their trading calls, especially "pick of the week", and their fundamental research. I believe (with my limited knowledge) that Angel has a best interest of clients in their mind. It appears it is different for different locations. In Mumbai, I have found them very proactive. I just wanted to share my perspective, I hope it helps.

Regards,
VDT

Hey Vijay,

Thank you for your input. You are right about the face that ODIN is one of the best trading software. Its biggest 'plus' is the speed of trade.

Infact the only 2 reasons I am still with Angel are, the ODIN and my Relationship Manager. He is a nice guy and tried to co-operate whenever I asked. I do not blame that good heart for my issues with Angel, infact, he went upto fixing the brokerage back to 0.01%

However, I still await return of the extra brokerage and am annoyed how the company could charge me an advanced brokerage promising 0.01% and then keep charging me 0.03%. Had I not scanned the contract notes and bills with a magnifying glass, I would have never known.

Hi! Partha,

I am not sure what happened with you with regards to brokerage but would advise you to get in touch with their QA cell in order to resolve your grievances. Further, Odin diet has an inbuilt auto switch over system wherein if there is any issue in broadcast, the user automatically gets diverted to another ISP. Recently received an update that they have launched new IP Address/Broadcast server with which tick changes every second. Nevertheless, I dont think there is an issue with the Odin diet software due to which it gets disconnected frequently at your end. I am a trader & available in front of the diet Odin screen throughout the day, monitoring security prices, without any uninterrupted connectivity. At least I havent faced this issue till date. Further, BO updation at all broking houses gets finished up to 7-8am in the next day morning due to updates in the equity & commodity segments. Cheers!

u pretty much wrote all the problems that are common with angel.......appart from the once I mentioned that I have encountered.

Angel odin has a nag for hanging everytime when there is huge buying or selling takes place as result there is high chance u gonna miss ur rate.....when I told this to their branch HO office of delhi moti nagar they told me the same thing that my net connection might nt be that good....thn I got my net connection checkd nothing is wrong with it its perfect as it can be...

Initially they were having problem with remote access they told me again that ur net might nt be good now If I am connecting my home pc with office my remote access works like a charm.......

One day what happed I had modified a order placed at certain price....the modified order got executed and the price at which order was initially placed also gt executed.....so in total 2 orders go executed instead of just one....I restarted my odin then nd only one order execution was being shown....I told this to angel they are yet to reply me back....they just said we dont do any thing from here wtf ?? but then according to backoffice i gt charged fr 2 orders where as I had only put one.....why cnat they give a proper response how did this happen rather than just leaving it out as if nothing happend at all ??

I am wanting to open new broking account.
Hi All,

I dont know whether i reading it correct, but according to me if we as investors sign agreement clearly mentioning the brokerage with Angel Broking or any other, they cannot charge anything extra apart from the brokerage and the government tax. Even if they put up some extra charges on their back office set up, take it with a pinch of salt. Complaint to SEBI. I am sure that the brokerage will call you to sort out the difference.
