TP,
Hack has lead to a leak....
And labelling it as a hack (done by an outsider vs. leak done by an insider) is not the issue.
Mossack-Fonseca cannot be held guilty (except for failing to prevent the hack) They have acted according to the laws of their own country, so legally they are covered.
The tropical storm has already claimed Iceland's Prime Minister his job and others too may be politically exposed of wrong doings (except in countries like Russia, China etc, where leaders do no wrong) - though China has censored the news...
Let's see what our country's investigating team probing the issue comes out with....
To simplify the issue at stake : A jewellery shop owner buys a lot of gold and diamond jewellery from a person who can be reasonably be suspected of not being able to prove ownership. The jeweller does not do due diligence, does not ask for proof of bills, nor inform the cops, as he profits from the business. Legally the law may be on his side if done well - but legally morally it MAY not be on side of the person selling the jewellery.
The sad part is that with offshore banking system, hundreds of billions of dollars is swindled off by crooks. And the persons being ripped off number in billions as well... and the benefit of it goes to a few people numbering in hundreds or thousands from each country....
