Thanks for feedback from those whose used it to see how it works.
As I was not too sure myself( since not having enough time ti test it on another computer) I released it as Beta.
At the outset, I would like to clear about my intention to make it commercial.No it is not. If it had been so, I would have stated my intention long back. If you read the thread from the beginning you would know the real picture.
Getting feedback from the users always ensures that software functions as expected when it is finally released. As of now it worked well on my system but then being a development system , will have all requirements. I have to know what needs to be provided for during installation so that its operation is smooth.
But many would not like to test it during Beta phase. That is why there is a detailed caution.
Perhaps, use of words "authorised" or "registered" sounds like restrictive. But as you know , if you use the software, I should have some idea about its usage and should get some feedback. My experience during first phase was that not many came forward to give feedback.I thought I was being open in the spirit of free software as I spent lot of time on this and personally I don't use much of eod data myself. It was made in response to members' felt need.
and to provide free alternative to downloading data and converting it. Moreover, I have seen even free softwares requires registration sometimes. I have been using many such softwares, duly registered, and without any grumbling such as AVG free version, notepad ++ etc.
EODDlc even after registration or without registration has full functionality as intended. Still if members feel it is a launcher for commercial development, may be I would remove it rather than my feeling hurt.
Chintan , thanks for your quick response. This weekend I will try to remove these problems. It apperas that databse connection error problem is there. Easy to sort out.
Runtime error 91 as per your description is also related to database.
error.log file would have been more clear as it stores the line number and position where this is occurring. Anyway these are easy to solve, I believe.
Rajesh Your error file is most helpful. One error is related again to databse and another to array object.
abcdgetright, first problem is similar to what chintan and rajesh reported. Another one is interesting. Everytime you click it downloads one day EOD data from MCX or NCDEX. Error file would have been easy to know exactly what happened.
But one thing is confirmed that MCX and NCDEX download is atleast working to some extent.
Chintan When trying NCDEX you should wait a little as the whole procedure is quite innovative.That is why you don't get other programmes to download MCX /NCDEX data.
Vivek, it is the same issue. If you try further more issues will crop up and would help it in making stable version.Please post error log file from BIN folder.
rsi and ramesh, please do wait till version is declared stable.
rajuwaste, hope I have made my point somewhat clear. but most importantly your feedback is very relevant.These errors are same as told by chintan vivek, rajesh, abcdgetright and others. First two errors are related to registration of dll files. Mostly you will have latest version so windows will not register old version. This needs to be ingnored during installation.
raosrinivas, quite an interesting question.It presumes many things.
First presumption is that I am somehow involved in software development as professional. No , I am not. I have interest in them but only as non profession. May be mostly as user. I had my first exposure to computer and its engineers in 1994 as user of their services as I needed to get my department computerised. So I gave lot of concepts, workflow, monitored development and implementation. That does not make me software professional or gave any experience in programming. Later out of curiosity I learnt lot of programming and acquired some basic qualification(though my work does not need them) . This knowledge I put to use in conceptualising many things, and at home I did this eoddlc thing. A software professional would do better job but then they may not do it. And it is not my bread and butter. I am quite well off without software and stock market. I feel more attached towards selfless service of members of traderji.com.
Your help in MCX and NCDEX is appreciated.If even one part is working it was because of your prodding. else I would have released it as final without MCX and NCDEX.
Thanks to all. I will go though all feedback and post another version.Those who have installed beta would only need to download exe file and replace the old one.
Will keep posting.
