Hello Soumya,

First of all, kudos for the introduction and continuous support of Fibotrader on your part.

It is really like a miracle to me as I used to spend nearly 2 hours everyday in updating my excel sheets for various parameters through "cut & paste" from NSE site. Now, Fibotrader does all this in seconds (& minutes) with a few clicks!

I wanted your views on setting up Fibotrader for intraday. Here is the scenario that I have in mind -

1. Create a folder called NSE-Intra.
2. Fill this folder with a number of scrips - say 100 - with same data as in the NSE folder till last EOD trade.
3. Program excel to fetch realtime data through screen scraping for those 100 scrips and automatically save them in the required CSV format at definite intervals - say every 5 minutes.
4. Manually upload such CSV file as EOD file into the NSE-Intra folder.
5. Watch for signals and take a call.

My questions are:

a. Will uploading an EOD file into the NSE-Intra folder also affect the NSE folder? (as the scrips are the same)
b. Will uploading a CSV file at, say 11:00 AM, autmatically overwrite the data previously uploaded at, say 10:45 AM?
b. How good will this logic be? My idea is, instead of getting a signal at EOD, the same signal may be generated at 10:00 AM by considering the data at 10:00 AM as EOD. Of course, the flipside to this is that the final data at EOD for the same scrip which generated a signal at 10:00 AM may not generate a signal at all!

My intention is that, though some manual effort is involved, one can catch signals in the middle of the day rather than waiting for EOD data to take a call on the next day. And if a signal caught at 10:30 AM proves the same as EOD, definitely one could make profits on intraday itself.

Your views on this is highly appreciated.

Once again, many thanks for introducing and supporting Fibotrader.

hi bkvenky,

i did all, that u have stated, in the past. but after getting Ami & Satya's StockTools i am doing my intraday analysis in Ami.
however if u r interested in doing the RT TA in Fibo and want to produce signal in the EoD chart using intraday data during market hours just do the following:
1. Create a folder say NSE-Intraday.
2. Import the intraday data into that folder. one thing must be kept in mind that the symbol of intraday data & EoD data should be same. i.e. Satyam Computer's EoD symbol is SATYAMCOMP so intraday symbol should have to be SATYAMCOMP.
3. Open Satyam's EoD chart. intraday data is showing as tentative EoD at the last bar.

thanx,
soumya

after extracting all 8 parts u will get a single file named Quotes_0.mdb. this file will be copied to the Data folder of Fibotrader. do the same for the Main file.

No it is not mandatory but good for the software's health.

don't hesitate to post any queries.

happy trading,
soumya
Hi soumya !
Thanks for the prompt response and sorry for my late reply.I did "overwrite" the main file and Quotes_0.mdb to fibotrader-> data folder. Now about EOD files from 31 May to 4 th Aug, 7th Aug to 31st Aug and 1st Sep to 29th Sep.
Whether these files will have to copy to the same fibotrader> data folder or to the ASCII import> NSE/BSE? Please confirm.
There after, what about Eod from 29th Sep to till yesterday. These I have pick one by one by from your daily post and copy one by one?
Thanks again.

Hello Nair,

To update the EOD data Just unzip the files (if they are in compressed form) and then use quoteman to update the database. Just specify the proper folder (BSE or NSE) to store the corresponding EOD data. The same applies to daily updates.

Can anyone give me the link from where this s/w could be downloaded. If it is in EXE or RAR format, request senior members to send me the same in ZIP format, if readily available.

Hello Soumya,

Would really appreciate your expert inputs into the following fundamental & technical doubts:

1. Fundamental: Indian Hotel shares got split yesterday from Rs. 10 to Re.1. This was automatically detected by Quoteman. However, it failed to detect the 1:2 bonus of ONGC. How is this to be achieved? Factor of 0.333333?

2. Technical: Is there any available indicator / custom-developed script for Darvas Box for Fibo?

Thanks & Regards,
bkvenky

hi Pankaj,

strange. there sud not have any problem.
however, do the following:
download EoD data file on 30/05/2006 from http://www.traderji.com/46118-post12.html. before importing these files just check on Delete existing quotes(slower) in the ascii import window.

thanx,
soumya
