How did u get down to selecting the 2 possibilities .. what is the logic behind these 2 numbers? Why not as whyLately has put 7, 6, 1 or 7,6,5 or any other combination? Could be anything ...

Also there is nothing special abt 28 to be a lucky number .. it could be 7,3,1=21 or for that matter any combination ...

Please do elaborate ....
dear,
there is insufficient information given to arrive at a unique solution by mathematical reasoning alone. the correct choice depends on the value of George's lucky number, which is not given.
the crucial piece of information in the last clue is not that the lowest card is a spade, but that there is one lowest card; in other words, the two values are different. why did George choose this clue? cause, he realize that his lucky number corresponds to two choices, the Ace-four he's holding and two-two, so he choose a clue that eliminates two-two. this clue is only useful if the solution is ace and four, i.e., the clues provide no information that could be used to set any other choice apart from all other choices.

BUT still ... how do you conclude 4 .. i mean Ace is ok .. double not there that is ok too .. BUT how 4 .. could be 5 too .... could be 2 too ...

How did you get 4 and wrt Ace too since he has asked that Ace can be taken as 1 .. does not necessarily mean he has Ace ...

I feel that the puzzle is illogical or we are taking some wrong clues ....

dear,
this is puzzle, you have to find the logic behind that.
ask questions, if you need clue.....

It seems to be a trick question to me.... the women couldnt have read what was written on the wall when the room was darkened.
I did not want to post the reply hence wrote what it did about Owls!!! :p

dear,
you are right. The clue which is given is only useful if the solution is Ace and Four, i.e., the clues provide no information that could be used to set any other choice apart from all other choices. It is evident that Harry's answer was not a wild guess, but the clues given were not sufficient for him to work out an answer unless the answer was Ace and Four.

A woman walks into a darkened room to find a derogatory name for a woman in large letters on the wall, which upset her.
Let's try... will focus on the letters first.

- Derogatory name: Were there more than 5 letters?
- Large letters: Were the letters more than 6" high?
- On the wall: Were they hand-written?
- Darkened room: Did she turn on the lights?
- Darkened room: Were the letters already illuminated?
- On the wall: Was the wall across from the door of the room?
- Testing whatif yes/no is not possible: Did the chicken come before the egg?
