The number of reputation points + number of posts would be a good combination for allowing members to the advanced trading techniques forum.

What are your thoughts on this?
Yes Traderji, that would be great. It would be better if the rep points can be given only by the mods. People can use multiple ID's to spam and give themselves rep. :)

The solution has to be within the framework of phpBBS. Since anyone can register (everyone doesn't have static id, so IP log is of no use), XYZ can have fake ids and add lots of reps to his original posts. purpose defeated. This is a great solution when ONLY mods/selected senior members can add reps.
So carrying on from OXy's idea, may be mods can start adding reps, and when members reach a certain status, say gold, or hero or whatever, they can also start adding rep points. Again I don't know if this selective classification is possible in this framework. But definitely worth looking into.

Negative Reps is a good idea and is available in this framework.

Abhijeet's suggestion is better.Any one reaching a standard can start distributing Reputation points.

And the 'standard' can be the same as the one suggested by Traderji - Min. no. of posts + rep points (this will have to be implemented anyway)

So it will be a self-sustaining 'chain-reaction' initially seeded by the mods.

What I see here is a lot of beating around the bush. I think Mr. Traderji can easily stipulate the criteria for who is allowed to post and what to post easily. (He knows how to develop and run this form and is doing it pretty good.)

And coming to the advanced forums, please visit the following sites http://www.Attaincapital .com and http://striker.com. You can find the most successful trading systems available to the public there. Did u expect the developers of such systems to share their methodologies(secretes) on any public forums. I think there is much better system traders and discretionary traders are here in this forum too. I use a variation of the Opening Range Breakout strategy to trade intraday and I am a winning intraday trader. I found a thread started by Mr. Biyasc named "60 minute range breakout". I am using a variation of the method explained by him there. What is explained there is so simple that anyone can follow it and trade successfully. But I haven't seen much activity or hot discussions there. May be what Mr. Biyasc wrote there is the simple and most successful trading strategy explained in this forum and it didn't got the attention it deserved. This is the way the world is. We will not realize the real worth of things or throw it away and go on arguing about everything else.

Yes he can, but he also cares about the members, so he asked for everyone's opinions.

What seems beating around the bush is actually idea generation.

The core idea of most systems discussed here, even including that of the great SAINT, have been documented in different literature before.
But these great men have used them, "abused" them to near perfection and explained them for others here.
so are ORB, hourly breakout, hourly reversal etc etc. If you read Haggerty, LBR, Connors, Kaufman, Crabel, Ross and others, you'll get a truck load of examples. Nothing new. You will even find stuff that seem difficult to find initially, like Fractal based or DSP based systems, PE and Market risk VaR based portfolio allocation, Exotic options, Spectral analysis of nonlinear time series etc etc.
So unless you have really discovered your unique system, more or less they are all available and out there somewhere. And not many complete systems are availalble anywhere, what you see are some entry strategies with some vague position sizing. There are not even broadbased market template to decide when to deploy the system and when to withdraw it.

anyway, what u wont see are the systems that are currently making the most money. mark my words "most" cos when there is a trend, even the old moving averages also make money.
