The solution has to be within the framework of phpBBS. Since anyone can register (everyone doesn't have static id, so IP log is of no use), XYZ can have fake ids and add lots of reps to his original posts. purpose defeated. This is a great solution when ONLY mods/selected senior members can add reps.
So carrying on from OXy's idea, may be mods can start adding reps, and when members reach a certain status, say gold, or hero or whatever, they can also start adding rep points. Again I don't know if this selective classification is possible in this framework. But definitely worth looking into.

Negative Reps is a good idea and is available in this framework.
My thinking behind Thread Writer also adding reputation point was like this : a thread writer carefully watches how his thread is propelling, whether it is moving in the correct direction or not and who is contributing positively to the thread thereby making it reach new heights. But yes... you have a valid point here... we will have to consider every aspect while implementing a system.

Also, availability of such features in the framework is also a valid consideration which I missed...

Thanks for your creative inputs.

Okay, you now have a Advanced Trading Strategies forum at http://www.traderji.com/advanced-trading-strategies/

Currently the minimum requirement for a member to participate in this forum is 300 posts & a minimum reputation level of 50 & a registered member for at least 90 days.

We can discuss the requirements here if any tweaking is needed.
Thanks Traderji for your quick implementation. I hope people not meeting the criteria can at least have READ ONLY access to this area.

Best regards,

Abhay
