Hello Sirjii,
--Someone in the forum had a 4800PE and since the market was on the rise , He/She was suffering losses.
-
Then you suggested them to WRITE a HIGHER call.
-
But another member inquired you as to why one should WRITE a CALL and not BUY a PUT????
-
Your reply
As Practical Observation, Do One Thing Keep The Same Strike Price CALL & PUT After The 15th To Observe Which Decays Faster....& If Writing Is Better Than BUYing The PUT.
Date ---------------- Value of call (write) ---------------------------- Nifty Change
09/17/2009 ----------------- 13 --------------------------- 7.xx
09/18/2009 ----------------- 9.25 -------------------------- 10.xx
09/22/2009 ---------------- 10.25 --------------------------- 44.15

Date ---------------------------Value of PUT ------------------------------ Nifty Change
09/17/09 --------------------------150 ------------------------------ 7.xx
09/18/09 -------------------------121 -------------------------------- 10.xx
09/22/09 ---------------------------84 -------------------------------- 44.15

Now my question is:
Why should one write a Call or BUY a PUT (to cover losses of 4800PE), when the market is going up???
........................As for as my understanding goes, both the moves add to the losses.
-
-
From the above values PUT decays much faster than the call (write) when nearing Expiry
I will post more values and inquire about it in a latter post after the expiry..
