hello sir ,
first of congrates for developing such a nice utility , sir i am facing difficulty in ur new setup , your previous version of chartsadata was working perfectly fine , i am not able to get data from odin using this version . similar pb faced by few others like jpatel . i tried on different machines with different operating system but same problem excist
i a using odin 9.1.0.5 of kotak , os. - xp professional if possible can u post ur old version with extended period as old version was working perfectly fine .

my second question is dde option given in your setup is working or not ?? ie can we get data in excel using dde .

Thanks. Could you please install teamviewer and mail/ping me after 9 pm to let me connect your system and find out what the problem might be?.

I have removed the excel which will refresh realtime datas coz it was not used by anyone and none enquired about it. You are the first person to enquire and if you want that facility, i will include excel realtime data refresh in my next release.

Dear Ashish,

Please find below the steps to work with Metastock
1. Install Metastock as usual but open it in offline mode. This is important, open metastock before running chartsdata.
2. Start chartsdata and choose ODIN/YAH00. Once you see the scripts loaded in the chartsdata, all other sections will be enabled at once.
3. Choose Metastock and click UPDATE button. Go to Metastock, open preferred scrips and view it updating every 5 seconds.
4. To backfill scripts, choose CASH or FnO option and go ahead by choosing intraday/cash eod/FnO eod/bhavcopy options, and click START to update charts with Backfill datas.

NSE, BSE and NSE F&O BHAVCOPY - will be saved for the selected date at location C:\ChartsData\Bhavcopy folder.

Let me know if you feel struggled at any stage.

Hi Dude,
I tried your software today in realtime with odin (MCXcrude) Futures.I find the follwing errors during today's usage.

1) Your software generates pop up message to insert the prescribed column list in data source (odin) first time and also while it is running(unnecessarily ,even though I already customised odin as per your software requirement) ,in that time no updates in meta stock.

2) When the price freezed for some time and when it again released for trading there is no updation in metastock but your software shows the latest price in screen.Today crude frezzed at 2178(6 %) and again at 2138 (9%) your software did not update MS after 2178.I closed both MS and your software then opened MS to check the latest data but no data available after 2178.

So without realtime intraday backfill we could not make use of your software for trading anyway thanks for your efforts.

Please can you tell me how to counter this problem.

There is another blip, for back filling in 1min or 5min it does not backfill last 20 min data during intraday.

Please reply to help me out on this.

The message in the picture will popup whenever ChartsData doesn't encounter necessary columns and what might have happened in your case is - either you should have changed the column profile or closed the market watch window/ODIN or any other changes in the market watch window/ODIN. This will happen normally for the first time but when your market watch window with column profile is set and ChartsData started accessing ODIN datas, data flow will be fine.

2) When the price freezed for some time and when it again released for trading there is no updation in metastock but your software shows the latest price in screen.Today crude frezzed at 2178(6 %) and again at 2138 (9%) your software did not update MS after 2178.I closed both MS and your software then opened MS to check the latest data but no data available after 2178.
Raju, chartsdata was not an artifical intelligence software to recognize the freezing situations nor special occasions happening in the market. It will just capture market data and convert that data to charts in a recognizable format, if any interruptions happen inbetween then it won't work in an expected way. If you found metastock was not updating, just press the button STOP (Metastock option in this case) in chartsdata and click UPDATE button again to see the new datas getting popped up into the charts. If this is not working out then close metastock and chartsdata, open metastock first and run chartsdata next followed by usual procedures.

So without realtime intraday backfill we could not make use of your software for trading anyway thanks for your efforts.
Friend, i guess you haven't gone thru my previous posts as i have already said that backfilling will be done only for NSE, BSE cash - Intraday/EOD and NSE FnO EOD. I haven't mentioned MCX or NCDEX intraday/EOD backfill anywhere. Please go thru my previous posts to understand more about chartsdata.

I haven't set any time interval to stop metastock updations after every 3 mins. Normally metastock refresh will happen in an interval of every 5 secons and the update will stop if you close ODIN/market watch window or manually by pressing STOP button. Few of my friends are using this option for their trading and doesn't encounter this type of situations, anyhow, i will check into this to find if any exceptional condition arises. If you want to manually click every 3 minutes for updation then there is no use in using this software.

One of our member Aravind encounter the same problem and replied back the same. I am not the data vendor, i am just backfilling intraday and EOD from yahoo/nseindia/bseindia websites as i am in no concern if data's were delay/incorrect. So my dear friend, i can't help you if data is incorrect/delay. I can help you if find difficult to work with ChartsData tool but not data's. :-(

Dear Deuce,

First, create a watchlist of scripts under YAH00 or include scripts in ODIN to get reflected in ChartsData - to enable backfilling section.

Second, choose metastock option and click Update button - before that you must start metastock application before running chartsdata. After clicking update button, you can see realtime charts getting refreshed in 5 sec interval.

Finally, if you want to backfill, choose the scripts (all or selected scripts) and click any one of the option - 1 min/5 min/eod to backfill the selected scripts. After backfill, just open the script in metastock to view the charts with backfilled datas.

Hope this clarifies.

Hi thanks for your response, it's very kind of you to guide in this, is there a way to select all listed NSE/BSE securities instead of adding them individually/one by one?

Maybe future revisions will allow us to import custom symbols lists for currencies and commodities since yahoo also has that data?
