Yes, naming conventions has been done with the restriction of 9 chars per symbol (for all TA softwares) as in YAH00, and whether you are using ODIN or YAH00, your script name will be changed to maximum of 9 chars and will associate with ODIN and YAH00 for uniqueness.

Another issue.

With SATYAMCOMP (10 Characters) of NSE, the data is exported into FCharts with the ticker name SATYAMCOM (9 Chars, may be taken from Yah00 symbol). This may be translated back to the full 10 char NSE symbol. Same may be the case with other 10 char NSE symbols also.

This will standardize the symbols based on NSE.

Dear Ritesh,

As i said before, ChartsData will work only when you are connected to internet else it won't work. The reason behind this is backfilling, coz backfill datas are downloaded from websites and it is not possible if you are not connected to internet. The other way to get it work is - can change program to work but without backfill, do you think it will be useful? i guess not. Try connecting you system to VSat along with internet and running the ChartsData will do all you need - both ODIN data transfer from VSat ODIN and backfilling from internet. Hope this clarifies.

sir i have installed your software which is connected to VSat and is not connected to interent will it nit work there. is there any other way that it might work

hi techdump, I am trying to download, view and track all NSE and BSE symbols in meta-stock charting application using charts data but I not able to do that as yet.

What are the steps to take to make this possible?

A lot of members have been asking me to post the original software since i left the topic as I felt bad due to pra & killerdon's reply. But this topic has taught me a lot in my personal opinion as public won't behave as you expect and nothing works fine or can't achieve untill you are ready to face everything. As time passes by, you should overcome ups and downs else it will dig you to grave.

I am releasing the original version as another evaluation version with full capability that will work till March 2009. After february, all other facilities (Today, Y! Charts, Indices, News) works fine except ODIN/YAHOO Data to TA - Charts & Backfill facility (National).

Let me list out the features of ChartsData

Database/Folder configurations should be done initially else TA charts won't update correctly.


Amibroker Configuration:
------------------------
Amibroker database will be automatically created under C:\ChartsData\Amibroker\ when you choose Amibroker -> Update button in ChartsData.

Just change the database settings in the Amibroker as mentioned below.
1. File -> Database Settings - A Dialog box will be opened with title "Database settings"
2. Ensure following settings has been selected under "Database settings" dialog

Data source: (local database)
Local data storage: Enable (recommended)
Number of bars: 1000
Base time interval: 1 Minute (IMPORTANT)​

3. Click "Intraday settings" button and another dialog box opens with title "Intraday settings"
4. Ensure following settings has been selected under "Intraday settings" dialog

Choose "Allow mixed EOD/Intraday data" under "Per-database settings" tab​

5. Click OK to exit "Intraday settings" dialog
6. Click OK again to exit "Database settings"
7. File -> Save All

Above settings ensures you to view both the Intraday and Daily datas by selecting "i" for intraday and "d" for daily.

Metastock configuration:
------------------------
Open Metastock before ChartsData and go ahead with Metastock -> Update button in ChartsData.

Intraday datas will be placed in the folder C:\ChartsData\MSData\MinuteData
EOD datas will be placed in the folder C:\ChartsData\MSData\EODData

Open corresponding folder and select scripts to view real-time charts updated every 5 seconds. If not updated, please close metastock, open it again and select scripts to view datas updated real-time.

FCharts Configuration:
----------------------
All the datas for FCharts will be placed under C:\ChartsData\FCharts\ when you choose FCharts -> Update in ChartsData.

Open FCharts, and choose "Intraday" button on the left hand side, which will open a dialog named "Live Data". Ensure following settings has been made to get real-time data.

Source: Ascii Files
choose "Open feed on startup"
Under Import Ascii Files, specify FCharts directory C:\ChartsData\FCharts\ and choose "Import changed files only"
Specify update frequency in seconds as you wish - Poll every _ seconds (1 to 60)
Click Start to update real-time/backfill datas​

I am in the process of developing a tool to import ODIN/***** real time data to Amibroker, Metastock, FCharts, Excel and Txt with ***** 1 min/5 min/Eod backfill.

Its features are
1. 1 second ODIN real time data can be imported to Amibroker, Metastock (with refresh - without screen/chart flickering), Fcharts, Excel and txt format.
2. 2 second ***** real time data can be imported to Amibroker, Metastock (with refresh - without flickering), Fcharts, Excel and txt format.
3. 1 min-last 1 day backfill, 5 min-last 5 day backfill and EOD backfill for all NSE/BSE scrips.
3. 1 minute update of World Indices, Commodities and Currencies can be viewed realtime
4. RSS News updates from GOOGLE/*****/REUTERS with Search facility

It is in the process of alpha testing and few of my friends are using it for their own use.

Please let me know if more features can be added to the above list.

I will post the software as soon as it passes alpha, beta and black box testing. Check out this thread for further updates.

I felt that some additional features as below will enhance the utility of the program.You may please look into the feasibility and the necessity and do as required.

1) The display window of the program may be used as a portfolio monitor also. We may achieve this by providing the facility to enter the purchase quantity and the purchase price through profile and display of Profit/Loss in Rs & in % values in the display.

2) Presently, the display shows the time in HH:MM obtained from the data source. This time may be obtained from the system time in HH:MM:SS format, so that we get a feel of update periodicity. For charting export, the time however may be just it is now.

3) The column 'Change' shows the value in Rs. Display of change in % may be thought of either in place of the Rs value or in addition.

4) Facility to change the update frequency from the present 2 sec to a slower value through a user option. This particularly may be useful for slower connections.

5) The program may remember the various user selected options like ODIN / Yah00, AB/FC/MS & Cash/F&O and load them on a subsequent start. A typical user may use a particular set of options only all the times.

6) Option to add the back filled data into the charting output file before obtaining fresh data from the source. This will help to obtain a complete day's chart even if one logs in late.

Dear Deuce,

First, create a watchlist of scripts under YAH00 or include scripts in ODIN to get reflected in ChartsData - to enable backfilling section.

Second, choose metastock option and click Update button - before that you must start metastock application before running chartsdata. After clicking update button, you can see realtime charts getting refreshed in 5 sec interval.

Finally, if you want to backfill, choose the scripts (all or selected scripts) and click any one of the option - 1 min/5 min/eod to backfill the selected scripts. After backfill, just open the script in metastock to view the charts with backfilled datas.

Hope this clarifies.

I have thought of this but it will take more time as it should not affect data capture, data formatting, data transfer and charting. So, i left this choice for future updataions but surely implement this in forthcoming versions.

This will change the originality of data as and whenever your system time changes. Best is to left the time as it is, such time it will be updated from the source itself.

In ODIN you can include this and if you want this in YAH00, i will include it in my next version

Hmmm, surely i will do this. A lot of customization options has been given and i will do it one by one.

My ultimate aim is not to make it difficult for users to get confused on how to use it after including a lot of options. But what you have listed are nice options, as said above i will consider it and implement it in my next version.
