hello Talisman,

Tarun is right. in icharts, they use EMA only. we can't change it to SMA.

Murtaza, Please also see chart of SCI. piereced the bb. moved down yesterday. i am still trying to make good analysis out of bb.

Also, can anybody suggest me any free charting tool to see bolloinger band with SMA .. i use icharts.in but it uses EMA for BB.

Hi tarun

every evening eod is automatically updated in chart nexus

default u get data only till march then u got to change ur proxy settings and onece u chnge these settings it updates the bse nse data directly from exchange

I dont know, How it is creating problems for you...am trying to upload the chart but I keep getting this message of exceeding your quota by 335 kb..blah blah..Could you suggest me how to upload..?

I mean..use print screen then..paste it in paint brush..then save it..and then upload..right?

Or am i missing something here?

When You See A Gap Down Such As Today Don't Just Stick Your Head In The Chart.....To Find Answers Although Answer Is There But You Can't See It....

In Such Cases Go To The NSE Website....To Check For Any Kind Of Ex-Date..First....

By The Way, Reason For Gap Down Was It Went Ex-Dividend Today & Dividend Declared Was Rs.6.50

ok so price on ex-date will be previous day close - dividend ( close to 150-6.5 )

Umm...some confsuion..I guess...okay..lets take it step by step...
You open icharts dot in...then you click the chart option in the left panel...the new page opens that has by default nifty's chart with EMA 20/50 setting with with 3rd and last box empty..there you need to change EMA setting to SMA with 20/50 or 5/6 and in the 3rd box you need to use BB that comes with default setting of 20/2...there you can change it to 9/2 setting...

BB(N,K) means

Bollinger Bands consist of:

* a middle band being an N-period simple moving average (MA)
* an upper band at K times an N-period standard deviation above the middle band (MA+K)
* a lower band at K times an N-period standard deviation below the middle band (MA-K)

Middle band can use SMA or EMA

ichart.in uses ema and no option to change it to sma. if u hv doubt, pl ping me on ghaitarun on YahooIM. i am mostly online.

hello Talisman.

In the charts posted by you, if you observe, there is no option to change the moving average option for Bollinger Bands. you can change it from 20, 2 to any other no.s like 9,2 , 9, 1.9, 50, 3 etc., but not ema to sma. that is default setting in icharts. if you have any doubt, please check the charts only with bollinger bands, in charts page ( not j charts), the ema also will be displayed.

for posting charts, use imageshack or tiny pic.
yes, it can be done the way you have done. But, better option would be to save the chart in you computer, and upload it. please follow the instructions provided in this thread.

You can apply the MA indicators on your chart and change the values to your preferences.
