Re: Stocks To Keep A Close Eye On - Chapter II

Anant,

Can we add % age to Targets & SLs in your AFL, Below is an example :

ABAN, OHLC, etc, etc.
Bought @ 900, Target 990 (10%), SL 845 (5%).

Just a value addition I think, Pl give me your views on this,

I think this way people can easily understand their risks.

Fahed

Hi Anant

Just a case study on National Alum.

As per your method should one exit in intraday or only on EOD basis where stop losses are concerned.

Also, based on my own analysis of the charts of National Alum i had a feeling of not taking this trade though i ended up taking it based on the Wilders20 signal.

Any suggestions/tips on what should have put me back from taking this trade purely from the charts just to help me try to weed out the low probability scrips.

Thanks in advance
Regards
Floyd

Hi Floyd,

Ideally, you should consider the day's closing price to take a decision whenever Target, Stoploss or Sell signals are reached. The intra-day High/Low are not to be considered as the whole analysis is based on the End-of-day data.

Regarding NATIONALUM, the Buy Signal was generated on 13-8-2010 and the Buy action was on 16-8-2010. But it was a false signal. As I was in a hurry, I had missed validating the signal with volume data and posted it without verification. That is why it immediately generated a SELL signal yesterday which led to the loss making trade. It should not have been traded at all on 16-8-10. I will take care to avoid such errors in judgement.

Hi Anant

I need to say sorry for not adding this in my earlier post - the loss i made on National Alum i have already recovered from another trade taken purely through the triggers issued by your system - so there is absolutely no need to appologize.

I have high regards for the systems developed by you and Savant and have proudly shared these with some of my yahoo group members.

My main aim in taking this as a case study was purely to improve our probabilities in trading/investing.

Had mentioned sometime earlier too that getting signals from your system or any system for that matter is just the first hurdle the next hurdle is trading well and would be extremely grateful if you and Savant could give us some tips on that. (Am not touching money management & psychology etc at this point in time)

For instance what all aspects we need to keep in mind before we place the buy call the next day of the trigger - i.e. how to trade in case of gap up, gap down, open=high, open=low, size of candle on the day of the trigger etc purely from an entry perspective - any additional tools recommended for helping us in live markets.

Also, some tips on the triggers itself - for instance if the trigger is on a red candle then what should be our decision and so on and so forth.

RIC: Anant -

Dear Anant i guess we all are eagerly awaiting for you to reveal to us the modifications that you have been considering for the last couple of months for further filtering you trades - would request you to end the suspense on this front.

Also, would be extremely grateful if you could create a mirroring image of the present afl for trading the short side of the markets too on EOD basis - i personally tried it but with my limited knowledge on AFL's have ended up messing the whole thing.

I do understand that shorting can be done only on the futures segment and most of our members on this thread may not be interested in the same but if it is not too much of an effort then would sincerely request you for the same.

Thanks in advance
Regards
Floyd

Hi Anant,

First of all sorry to be impatient.

I am very curious about the performance of the triggers posted by you daily.
Today, I couldn't stop myself evaluating it on my own.

And I am not surprised when I see the results, solid performance. :thumb:

As on 19-Aug-2010 there are total 261 trades since 17-May-2010.
For each trade I kept maximum limit of Rs.3000 and calculated the performance.

Here is summary of the Performance (according to my calculations)

BUY LIMIT : 783000.00
BUY VALUE : 731589.91
SELL VALUE : 334764.90
REALIZED P/L : -9780.96
REALIZED P/L % : -2.84%
CURRENT VALUE : 433092.55
UNREALIZED P/L : 46048.50
UNREALIZED P/L % : 11.90%

You can download the detailed performance calculations from here

Thank you for all your efforts and wish you all the very best!!!

Cheers
Prasad

Hi Anant,

Having Absolute Value Is Far Better Than Having Another Column For Percentage.... Perhaps It Could Be BecauseI Like Things Simple & Uncluttered ...... Being Democratic....Will Go With The Consensus...:)
