Hello all,

I'm new to this thread. Just recently became interested in stock markets. Reason: want to be financially independent as soon as possible. This thread is really awesome. I really appreciate all the hard work by Saint and others.

I have one question:

What graphing tools do you recommend for a beginner? Right now I work fulltime, so I don't really have time to trade intraday. Firstly, I need to know how to get my hands on stock data (daily, weekly, etc.) in a nice format, and also a graphing tool that will easily import that data, and allow me to draw lines and such. I've looked at Metastock, but it seems quite expensive, and also from their website it seems only interprets data from isignal and quotecenter, which also are very expensive.

Hello riz

To start with you can try out the free solutions, then go for the paid ones.

Look at the software section for the solutions or specfically look out for posts by soumya_b, somu is the resident expert in Fibotrader.

Another charting package you can check out is FCharts. Mr Himadri (rhimadri) is a expert user of FCharts, you can learn a lot for his posts.

You can post your queries, but please do so in the relevent sections.

Also can try search feature of the forum.

bindu , as an invstr , of course u should start with fundamental checklist of the stocks u wanna buy......then start with technicals......in this combo effect , u will have a quality choice......in technicals , its not imp what u r buying or selling but 'when'
......

this is my first day here.. and i managed to read some first ten pages of this thread... but its 153 pages..
let me first introduce myself.. am dewan nafees from chennai. am finishing my graduation this year hopefully in MAY end..
and from my college days itself i have been more interested in investing in shares.. but dint want to burn my fingers by investing without having a good knowledge..
but i have some amount of money with me that i can invest in equity shares..
i will be free for few more months.
so this is my condition.
i was not able to read all the tutorials which ha been mentioned here by SAINT.

i want some guidance. i am totally new to this trading. i just have a bank account and know that i have to open a trading account to do a trading. i dono what is online trading
and i dono how to trade and where to trade.

i want a brief TO-DO list for me now.please help me with these info. please.

Hi Nafees
First of all a very warm welcome to you in Traderji. I'll try to answer your questions one by one. A the very first, there's absolutely no need of navigating thru' the countless pages to find Saint's articles. You can as well download the compiled version along with the querries at the following location:

In place of ************ type "4shared(dot)com"

under the name of "Teach a man to fish" as PDF file. I'm sure you can go thru' the pdf file much more comfortably.

Regarding opening a trading a/c, I'd advise you to approach any brokerage house and open a trading accouunt. The broker will infact guide you on different issues starting from opening the account to buying and selling in shares.

One these two are done you will be fully equipped to trade. Hope this helps. In case of further querry feel free to write.

Help from Senior Members

i have been learning TA by reading Saint's post. And today after so many days i am able to detect(hopefully correct) chart pattern in TataTele. i just want to confirm if this is triangle pattern and if the target for Tata Tele is 39.

this is only for educational purpose, i apologise to all members if i did something wrong by posting my question here.

thank you rakesh for pointing that out, i can see that it had a sharp movement(pole part) before making the flag/penant part. i am attaching new chart of Tata Tele, senior members please correct if i am wrong somewhere
