the intraday square off time by TSO is 3.10pm whereas other top discount brokers like zerodha have set the time at 3.20pm.. why so early at 3.10?? could we see that extended to 3.20 in future like other brokers??

Hi kentuky3
Can't comment on other fellow brokers but here's why we have kept it at 3:10 pm.

The leverage provided for intraday trading is quite high. We have all seen technological glitches world over. A few names from our industry include NYSE, NASDAQ, NSE, BSE etc. In case of a last minute technological glitch the intraday square off may not happen. Doing it closer to the market closing would leave us with very little time to identify and resolve the issue.

Some risks are taken knowingly (trading decisions) and some risks are unknown (technology related). We'd like to do all possible to keep our users' money safe. Hence we do it at 3:10 pm.

Ah.. but not high enough for stock futures. It is pretty good for NF and BNF, but need more for intraday stock futures, specially using BO/CO.

Just to understand better, how much would be expected? If you can also give an example it'd be very helpful.
About 10000 for a contract worth 5 lakhs, assuming a stoploss around 7-8000. Checked your margin calculator. It seems that you are assuming a stoploss around 2%, which is ok for equities, but no intraday trader will set a 2% stoploss for futures.

Hi timepass
Sorry did not get a chance to reply earlier.

Thanks for the example. Will check with our RMS team if something can be done in this area.

While you are at it, also check if you can increase the leverage for intraday equities using Bracket Order to 25-30x from the present 15-19x.

Hi TradeSmartOnline

Do you provide margin for intraday trading in NSE Stocks and Futures, based on the equity holdings that are lying in the DP Account for long term investment? Some brokers like zerodha does not seem to offer that, until and unless we first move our stocks to their Pledge Account, as mentioned in this link - http://zerodha.com/z-connect/tradez...ents/online-pledging-of-stocks-for-trading-fo

The problem with this method is that it will take a few days time to pledge and un-pledge the stocks, and we cannot sell them, without first un-pledging them. Therefor it increases the risk.

What process do you follow in this regards, if I open my Trading and Demat Account with you ? Please explain.

Thanks and regards
