I agree with pcj, it is an easier set up to trade ! Rules seem to be very clear cut. After ging through random posts by Karthik, Anup and Ragarajan I also traded one lot LT futures, long above high of 1:45 PM bar at 1543.65, Long above 1544.65 and exited at 1546.45 It did a high of 1548 a clear move of Rs.1000/- from 1543.65 for a 250 shares lot size.
Was just testing the water before taking a plunge.
Thanks for making this thread alive once again....

Its a very good scalping method given by Karthik,He seems to be missing these days.. and RR sir was the one who mastered it.. and he corrected all of us whenever we were in a disarray...

Please carry on your conversation..I will be the most happiest person if the thread catches the fire once again...

Unfortunately i will be at office and will have no access to chart and cant trade ATP method..

All the best

Dear RKK, there is some confusion.. according my calculation the y'day ATP comes to 1547.08. So how did you take the trade. Not sure if my calculation is wrong. Could you pls elaborate how you arrived at y'day's ATP, if possible? thanks
My data for LT Feb future from NSE is as follows
Lot - 6,221
Turnover in Lacs - 24,060.99
Lot Size - 250
ATP comes to 1547.08

For this is an easier set up to trade.
Today traded Ranbaxy Futures :
Short below 9:45 435.10 less 50 paise filter suggested by rkk, covered at 432.60
Short below 11:00 436.50 less 50paose filter, did not trigger
Short below 11:45 low : did not trigger

Long above : 13:00 438.95 +0.50=439.45 >long at 439.55 exit at 441.45

Please confirm these trades. Request skrshri and Rangarajan who is trading it regularly to kindly confirm this.

No filter required here.
Some stocks make Retrace/pull back & then give profit.
So watch the behavior of the stock & go with strict s/l as per the strategy.

pravin,
U cannot get ATP of Futures next day from NSE site.
U have to note down on EOD for yr preferred stocks.

Thanks for this input. I am quiet new to trading and hence trying to assimilate knowledge. This idea about filter was given by rkkarnani and Rangrajan, I further checked it too, when I looked at some previous charts I saw that a small filter many times saves us from a loosing trade. But surely I will have a relook. Thanks for this input.

Dear Pravin, You are bang on target ! Yes ATP of LT future on 4th Feb was indeed 1547.08
I asked someone here for the ATP of LT and was told its : 1540.68 !
I did specify that I was asking for LT futures and did not realise that it was for Spot LT and hence took the trade when LT futures closed above 1540.68
Lucky that it did not result in a loss !
I traded it without seeing a chart, just checked the high of LT future made between 1:35 and 1:45 on a Neat terminal and traded it.
Need to be much more careful in futures.
Thanks for pointing it out Pravin ! :thumb:

Dear Rangarajan,

You can get ATP of futures for any day. But you have to calculate it. The method used by pravin is correct.

ATP = Total Traded value / (Total number of contracts traded X lot size)
