Suggestion for Crowd Index to Zerodha

1>> Don't allow people to put prediction on Friday. Thursday EOD should be last. If we allow Friday we will eventually have bunch of winners with 100 Rs- 300Rs every week. So no fun.

2>> Introduce multiple brackets.

+/- 1 point bracket
+/- 5 point bracket
+/- 10 point bracket
+/- 25 point bracket
+/- 50 point bracket

If at least one winner is found in lower bracket we stop there else we go to the next higher bracket.

if we do not find any winner in +/- 50 points then no winner for that week.

Just like we have diminishing return as time passes we need to have diminishing returns as we go to higher brackets.

You can come up with some formula.
The thing is we had over 2000 odd people participating last week, and there would have been a winner at every point within a 500 point Nifty range. So yeah it is a nice idea, but it will have to do too much with luck than skill..

We want this to be more skill than luck, so yeah, we have something very interesting coming up..

Installed ZT 3.11.2.1 today.

Opened two chart windows, only one chart is updating realtime, the other one is not updating.

Does any body have a solution/ tweak to make both the charts update realtime?

Thanks
SHEKHAR
Shekar, I've been viewing two charts on my system with 3.11.2 as the version of Zerodha Trader and haven't had any problem with both charts updating. I'd suggest you try logging off and logging in again and trying. If you still see updates only on one chart, we'll probably have to do some troubleshooting like updating the latest package of the Nest DLL and some registrations.

You know what, for crowd.in, you could allow for a bigger range for the earlier predictions.

If predicted 6 days in advance, range = +/- 10 pts
If predicted 5 days in advance, range = +/- 8 pts
If predicted 4 days in advance, range = +/- 7 pts
If predicted 3 days in advance, range = +/- 4 pts
If predicted 2 days in advance, range = +/- 2 pts
If predicted on the last trading day, range = +/- 1 pt

if there are multiple winners, the amount can be divided as per the accuracy and time of posting.

Saw somewhere that your new software is getting ready.
My 2 cents, take lots of suggestions from people here before starting.

You said that Nest is badly designed. That is the understatement of this decade.

True, but there will be a weekly payout with your proposal. :D
In current format of +/-1, I wouldn't waste my bandwidth or time on it.

I am sure that there will be weekly payouts, but no bumper prizes, maybe never a winner of 1 lakh Rs. There will be many winners of Rs. 1000-2000 etc. who cast their prediction on the last or the penultimate day. Surely Zerodha has set aside a budget for this scheme which they won't spending 100%.

Their purpose behind this scheme is advertisement, greater participation; as well as continued user interest. I think that providing a larger range for the early birds could ensure greater interest. Also, it will make the contest look like something more than just a lottery.

Hey, btw, how about 1000 "early bird" prizes of Rs. 100 each for those who cast their prediction on Saturday/Sunday etc :D

Not much bandwidth wasted on it though, much less than the price of a lottery ticket :)
