Now that talks of humor is going around, let me give u an interesting trivia... An active trader who decides to keep a position overnight(95 out of 100 times), usually does it because there is loss in the position... And usually out of this 95 positions , 90% would continue making losses if held out...
I am not just telling you this, we have data to prove this ;)....
All I can say is wow. So it is true that hope is not the best investment or trading strategy.

I have 2 questions:

1. You said in December that we will be able to see holdings in our ILFS demat account in NSE NOW in January. What is the update on this?

2. Suppose I want to sell call options against some shares held in my ILFS demat account (i.e. covered calls). Lets take Reliance (RIL) as an example. If I want to sell 1 contract of RIL calls, I must have Rs 38,000 in my account as margin. Is there any way to use the Reliance shares held in my account as margin to sell these calls?

I hope my question is clear. Sorry in advance if this question already answered in this thread. After going through first 110 pages of this thread, I have given up on further reading.

That i understand sir but in case you dont provide any margin ,if this same situation arises that i have a MTM loss in religare for sold nifty futures for 1.2 lacks but i have 10 lacks of reliance they pay my MTM and charge me intrest on it

OR you mean to say that exchange knows that i have a holding of 10 lacks rs worth of reliance so they dont take MTM on nifty and i can just sit with a loss until a litmit or i clear it

The point i want to understand is that who pays for my MTM loss of 1.2 lacks in nifty till i settle it is it. The broker the exchange or the reliance i hold because MTM in futures is settled every day
For any mtm that you can't bring in, we will provide it to you and charge an interest, very similar to Religare... Cheers...

1. Yes all your holdings are visible on the NOW platform..

2. Yes you can give your reliance shares as margin for covered call... But what you need to take care of is that you can arrange for any MTM that happens in your short call position... Though you would be making profits on your reliance holding the mtm losses in your short calls has to be taken care of...

Cheers...

This means you aren't enabled for SL-M order... if you want this option, send us an email asking to enabling SL-M order...

Now, about your position, I am still confused why it got bought at 633.5 instead of 633..

Assume you have a short on tatasteel at 640... to put a stop loss, you need to choose SL buy order and put a trigger at 633.5 and limit price at 633.... If this is how you had placed your SL, it should work... Can you try placing some stop losses today and check out...
In my NOW software, SL_M and SL_L are not available. I think these should
be available to everybody. Why do you have to enable them?

Thanks

You will have a SL( which is stop loss limit) available for you.. The reason SL_M is not showing for you is because we pushed the NOW team to introduce this. The new clients will have it enabled from beginning, we are updating it for all the older clients manually, which takes a little time...

Do leave a mail on india@zerodha with your client id... Cheers..
