Tell me which is most reliable broking firm in india in lowest brokeage in nifty/share. As the service of most of low cost broking firm is not up to the mark.
I have not solicited till now, but you come on this thread and you ask this question, you know what I have to answer... ;).... About the service, I am sure a lot of guys will vouch that we are doing better than a lot of those guys who charge 10 times more... Cheers...

I have a small 7X10 laptop which does not have a separate numeric keypad - numbers and operators are intermixed with the use off Shift key to save space.

So + & - dont work with NOW on my laptop :(

I wish the folks at NSEIT had used a simple configuration file to store all this information - would have made life so much easier.

Still waiting to hear back from Zerodha on Top N in F&O!

No complaints on brokerages or service though :) - There's always someone at the other end to answer my calls and I give them hardly any business in terms of brokerages as of now!
Hi nitin,

I think you should definitely get one of those i3's or i 5's, the performance of NOW is so much better on one of those faster machines... about the top Nifty options trading, will have a check on it tomorrow, had totally forgotten about it....Cheers..

Hi Nitin,

a) F1 and F2 actually are the most commonly used keys for buy and sell, will try finding out if it can be configured to some other keys...

b)about freezing, I will mail you an ini file, paste it in your NOW folder, hopefully should help about the freezing issues.. Also, don't open many applications on the system you are using NOW.
For net position the best place to look is, F11(admin positions). Right click on the top of the bar and reposition columns, you can add average price onto the column....
If you are trading options, net value in admin positions will show the margin used.. also go to surveillance and rms limits-view limits... will show margin used...

c) in the order book, market order doesn't show executed price..... Double click on the order and a window opens which shows average price of that particular trade.... Also Trade book f8 will show average trade price...

Cheers...
Sachin,

Dude, all I can say is thanks for responding - want to give you a lot of advice on rest and its importance but I dont preach what I dont follow :)

W.R.T your answers

a) Please check if the user can reconfigure - I really think the folks at NSEIT havent paid much attention to user friendliness :) But then again, they probably dint figure on 7X10 form factor laptops. However its really serious for me because two days in a row I lost a lot of money because I mixed up buy and sell. Maybe I can set an alert for sell that then stops me from making the same mistake? Let me play around with the user settings - I think there is an option there that allows NOW to ask for confirmation on various key entries.

b) I have an extremely souped up laptop with tons of mem, diskspace and hard core processing power - so its definitely not the CPU. Also, my internet was running perfectly because after the first few freezes I ran a network monitor to make sure I wasnt dropping packets. I am on a 1.5 Mbps dedicated line. Its probably the configurations in the INI file, so please send me the file.

F11 gives me the net for the entire day and that applies to the average price, MTM and all other indicators as well. So, if I am running a positive MTM for the day and I have open position, the average price shown in admin positions is messed up in the sense it shows the overall average price.

Ditto for RMS and Netpositions.

The bigger issue here is post freeze, my orders were not showing up in my order book or my trade book. The only places they were showing up were on summary screens such as Snap quote, admin, net positions. Open orders not showing up meant I could neither modify nor cancel the order. That was very dangerous for me - do you know what I mean?

c) When I am doing intraday, I would like to do it NOW [pun intended :)] - clicking once too many times makes it that much harder. So yes, I can go to order history and look at a small column on a large screen that says average but dont you think that belongs on the main order screen?

Sachin, I know NOW is a NSEIT application and I am glad that atleast I can rant on traderji and I know you will either try to solve my problem or tell me live with it.

Sachin, LOL, I should have clarified - small in form factor but its a server class laptop. So processing power is definitely not the issue - read my earlier - looks like we were both typing simultaneously.

Thanks
Nitin

Set alerts on in User settings and changed the colors of SELL screen to a HORRIBLE color - so instead of 1 click now I have to use 2 clicks to place buy or sell orders. Should help mitigate fat fingering.

Also, there is a usersettings.ini that specifies the hotkey but I dint want to change the settings without knowing the impact.

Rest hmmmm.... we are a big bunch of traders in the office who so passionately believe in the idea of Zerodha... Doesn't really seem to me like work when I am answering these posts even at 12 am... ;)... Rest is what traders need more than anyone else...

I should have guessed about the processing speeds :)...

I think at the end of the day it is about getting used to change... I upgraded from a good road bike to a very good road bike... The first few rides were so very uncomfortable, even though I had paid 3 times as much for the new one.....

@everyone else reading this:

I should not be saying this as a broker, but i'd advise everyone who start out with us to take it a little easy for the first few days.... Get used to the change, not just with the trading platform, but also with the cost of trading.... It is very easy to get carried away and overtrade initially...
If you are used to racing in a maruti and suddenly you get to race in a bmw against maruti's, it is better to get used to the new machine before pushing the pedal in a race.... ;)...

Small clarification - lost a lot of money to fat fingered trades, but still made a decent amount of money thanks to the flat brokerage from Zerodha.

But I do agree on your cautionary note - lots of things to learn on the NOW platform!

Hi Zerodha,

I am not able to save "user defined columns" in NOW software like open, high , low etc in market watch window. So everytime I have to add those again and again. I tried to save from "market watch group settings" and also when it ask to save when existing the software but nothing helped.
