@GTJ, you don't need to experiment!! ;)...

It is my bad if what I had posted earlier was not right!!!!

To clear it out once for all,

Your exact price need not be recorded, even if the price goes below a SL trigger in case of sell stops and goes above in case of Buy SL, your SL order will get triggered.

The mistake everyone makes today is that the limit price will be a price higher in case of sell stops and lower in case of buy stops.. In this case, the order goes pending and people assume that because you had put a SL it ensures guaranteed execution....

That is why we introduced SL-M, so people don't do that mistake....

Hope this clarifies....

Sorry for the earlier post....

Cheers...
Hey, it takes ENORMOUS COURAGE to admit one's mistakes, especially so when someone is in your position so :respect: :thumb:

Please make a brief comment on what the outcome will be in the following scenarios, just for the purpose confirmation; I think it's easier to understand this within examples. Thanks :)

Ok, a few questions.

Scenario 1 - I buy @95, Current Market Price is @100 & I put a limit-sell @105.........BUT........ I DON'T put any trigger-price........will the sale be executed @105 or above, given that the instrument is liquid enough & the price stays above 105 long enough?

Scenario 2 - Buy@95, CMP@100, limit-sell @105.......AND I put trigger-price @105 also........will the sale be executed @105 or above, given that ......?

Scenario 3 - Buy@95, CMP@100, limit-sell @105.......AND I put trigger-price @104........again........what'll happen?

Thanks :)

Scenario 1 - You will make profit of 10 points, given your condition(the instrument is liquid enough & the price stays at OR above 105 long enough) is met.

Scenario 2 - You will make profit of 10 points, given your condition(the instrument is liquid enough & the price stays at OR above 105 long enough) is met. If you set trigger and limit price as same, it becomes scenario 1 in my opinion.

Scenario 3 - You will make profit of 10 points, given your condition(the instrument is liquid enough & the price stays at OR above 105 long enough) is met. But your position wont get liquidated if price reaches 104 and above but never touches 105 despite order getting queued in active queue and the instrument being highly liquid. :D

Scenario 4 - Sell@105, CMP@100, limit-sell @95.......AND I put trigger-price @96........again........what'll happen?
You will make profit of 10 points, given your condition(the instrument is liquid enough & the price stays at OR below 95 long enough) is met. But your position wont get liquidated if price reaches 96 and below but never touches 95 despite order getting queued in active queue and the instrument being highly liquid. :D

Thanks, as I've said, I was looking for confirmation, to check if there are no "abnormalities" in any of those cases. :)

Well, you got one wrong then, shouldn't it be limit-buy! How will I be able to book a profit on a short-sell with another sale! :D

@Sachin

Charting by Zerodha is pathetic.Do something to it and it is pending
for last few months.

Ok, here's another brain-busting, mind-numbing query from yours truly. :D

Is it possible to "open" a position with one broker & "close" it with another broker, given that both have a separate software/platform?

For example, I buy a crudeoil contract with one broker @4000, & on the same day, later on in the day, I (short)sell a crudeoil contract with another broker @4050, will that be considered as a squareoff by the exchange when they aggregate all the positions of each individual client at the end of the trading-session? OR will both the positions be carried overnight into the next day as separate open positions?

I'm asking this because on the MCX website, it says that all open positions by an individual is subject to the respective specified limits, so I suppose all the open positions of a person opened with different brokers will be aggregated & setoff (squared off) against each other, where possible. Is that how it works? Or not?

Thanks :)

So what is the final verdict?

Must the trigger-price be hit for it to get activated? Or ANY price lower (higher in case of buys) than trigger-price will do?

Just looking for confirmation on this. :)

Scenario 2 - Your order will trigger instantly and limit order will be activated. (You do not need to put a trigger in the first place, just a limit order will do).

Scenario 3 - You would not be able to put a trigger at all in this case. You cannot put a trigger price lower than the limit price in case of a SL sell order. (Again, you need not put a trigger for this, just a limit order will do).

Re: Charts with Zerodha.

Even Future charts (Nifty F1 & Stock futures) like Google finance (provide FREE Cash charts only)
Example below:
http://www.google.com/finance?q=NSE:.NSEI

With Time Frames 1min (additional), 2min, 5min, 30min, 1hr(additional), Day, Week will be a Great help to most of Traders.

Even a web based site for charts (like google or icharts.in(intraday charts only for paid subscribers after log in) will be good for zerodha subscribers, if Nse Now updation is not possible for now.
Like backoffice log in we can log on to that web site & see intraday future charts.
Zerodha can make this possible too, they have already done some impossible tasks! :thumb:

Regards.

yeah, too much copy paste is not good for health. ;)

Let zerodha confirm it. I posted the outcome as per my understanding.
