hello zerodha,
i am a new member of zerodha.i read in this form somewhere that it is possible to take opposite positions & can keep both positions.(eg: i am taking 1 long position in nifty, after some time i am taking a short position also). But some other place i read that, when we want to close [square off] a position , right click on the scrip & take an opposite position.(ie:if earlier i brought 1 lot nifty, now i have to sell 1 lot). Here i am confused. How Zerodha ,s system can understand weather i am closing the old position or opening a new position? Please correct me if i understand it wrongly.
Hi Ramesh,

In 1 trading account, you can't hold two opposite positions of the same contract at same time... It just negates each other....

So assume you buy 1 lot of nifty future... If you sell 1 lot of nifty, it will negate the existing position...

How to take opposite positions & can keep both positions!

If any one want to take opposite positions & can keep both positions [It is useful for quick day trader when market is in small tight range bound condition.]
U can use it cleverly when brokerage is low & trading terminal is fast. Just go with different month contracts ( Current 1month & 2nd month). There is a little difference of Premiums but Most of times Premiums (+ve or -ve) changes PROPORTIONATELY for different month contract. So not a big problem at all.
I have used that strategy for Day Trading successfully multiple times when market in tight range bound condition. It is a Mind Game; U have to be quick to switch/close positions.:)

If any one can implement that strategy to trade successfully in tight range bound market when most of indicators failed, my heartiest greetings to you.:thumb:

PS: Reverse Position Strategy.
When market is in tight range bound condition due to weak momentum/volume and strong resistance and strong support occurs same time.
Reverse position in Different Month is taken as RISK MANAGEMENT, bcoz market brake such a range bound condition suddenly with a sharp up or down move.
Until then it can hit resistance & support multiple times and belongs to that range, hence profitable.
Regards.

Is there any way to reset password or have to contact to Zerodha ?

I really dont like them to contact.

Any other alternative?

Will we get option trading features also in NEST for example sell straddle for a prem. of 200 and similarly other strategies too .... or is that asking for too much.....

Although I am ready to pay for the software having these features :)
