hello zerodha,
i am a new member of zerodha.i read in this form somewhere that it is possible to take opposite positions & can keep both positions.(eg: i am taking 1 long position in nifty, after some time i am taking a short position also). But some other place i read that, when we want to close [square off] a position , right click on the scrip & take an opposite position.(ie:if earlier i brought 1 lot nifty, now i have to sell 1 lot). Here i am confused. How Zerodha ,s system can understand weather i am closing the old position or opening a new position? Please correct me if i understand it wrongly.

In 1 trading account, you can't hold two opposite positions of the same contract at same time... It just negates each other....
So assume you buy 1 lot of nifty future... If you sell 1 lot of nifty, it will negate the existing position...
