Zerodha says multiple times, NSE/SEBI charges big for Intraday Data Provider, so it is difficult for them. If they can provide Google like intraday charts for F&O that will be enough for trading.
Meanwhile, anyone can use Amibroker/Metastock for EOD easily importing data from NSE Bhavcopy [with making little change] or using free GetBhavcopy.
I have used MansiRT for Amibroker for sometimes, it is not dependable. Sometime it imports erroneous data to database very dangerous for short term day trader.
Regards.

I am using Amibroker with Now.exe, so I do not really need any other charting tool. What can be better than Amibroker for charting, backtesting, etc? Even Sharekhan TT cannot be compared to Amibroker or Metastock for that matter, as far as technical analysis, charting etc is concerned. I have not really heard of any charting tool developed by an Indian broker which is better than Ab or Metastock. And if they do they may probably charge a lot of money for it anyway.

Can u please tell me the cost of amibroker
i m new to the market

They are upgrading to Nest soon, so I guess that should take care of basic charting. It would help if they provide more Intraday historical data (Like Sharekhan TT), which gives 30 days 1 minute intraday historical data, which can be saved as a csv file and imported into other charting softwares.

Not that Sharekhan TT is any kind of a benchmark, just that they provide better charting facility then any other broker according to my knowledge. Have not really tried Nest but I think they have some basic automated trading on single scrips and backtesting which is definitely a plus, but with 7 days of intraday data, use will be limited. Finally if Omnesys provides true portfolio backtesting with profit equity charts and automated trade on multiple symbols with custom made scripts, that is the way to go

sayanthan2u9,
amibroker comes with two versions ,standard and professional.both are capable of real time charting, back testing ect.major difference is standard version cannot handle data below 1min TF.standard costs about 10,300/- and professional cost about 14500/-.you cal also try for cracked version of ami f you feel it is too much of cost to try.

Whatever you do, do not buy Amibroker standard edition. Amibroker Standard edition as as good as wet toilet paper. You have it but can't really make much use of it. Makes a lot of sense to pay 4500 more and buy Amibroker Professional.

Like mprakash1972 said, you can use a cracked version if you need it for EOD data or are importing intraday data from a data source like TT, ODIN, NOW etc.

Using a cracked version of Amibroker with a GDFL(Yes, they are also the authorized vendors of Amibroker) subscription might land you in trouble. They will insist you use a licensed copy of Amibroker. I don't know how they figure out if a version is cracked or not, but then, if they have multiple users with the same license accessing their datafeed, then it could possibly raise a red flag. I haven't used a cracked version of Amibroker with GDFL's datafeed so I wouldn't know.

@ Zerodha

I understand your plan to offer commodity trading facility is delayed, and it appears you cannot guarantee by when you will be able to offer this facility to your clients. But, can you tell us what is going on BSE trading facility front as you have its membership already?

It is inconvenient to use different broker services just for buying only BSE listed stocks. Besides, it creates avoidable distraction, costs money etc. This may not be the case with most of the members here, who I guess are active traders. But it creates problems for a less active, bottom-up investor like me. :)

Thanks
Hey Punter,

Our initial focus was just equity business, especially f&o on NSE, especially also because we never knew the kind of response we will get. But today, with all the amazing support from you guys, we are able to add a lot more and eventually the idea is to able deals for the entire Zerodha group which otherwise would not be possible as an individual or group of individuals.

We have done every possible thing to go live on MCX. But unfortunately in India, business is not very clean or easy to start. We had planned to go with ODIN, but once we found that NEST is better suited and decided to change, the other vendor suddenly gets dirty and is delaying the process of moving over.

Similary for our BSE license, SEBI is in this huge investor awareness drive and apparently all their employees is busy with it. So what happens, all applications that are pending or approvals get delayed...

There might be a lot of you guys who are into business and you would understand the issues faced doing business in India...

Zerodha started with online broker services from Aug 2010 and has 9000 customers as of now. This I got from customer service.
Out of 9000, hardly less than 1000 customers might trade daily as Zerodha does not provide all facilities.

In fact its not a complete trading platform. You must need another broker trading platform too.

Like me, I do have trading a/c but I stop trading with Zerodha platform.

It's always good to stick with a complete facility platform provider unlike Zerodha.

I am not against Zerodha but that what I felt after my experience.
