Re: Zerodha Stamp Duty....

not just horrible n misguiding...they lie...they do not mention sebi charges. wonder what other things they lie about
Hey Desi and Buzz,

Why the hate?? ;) ..

I am trying to upload snapshots, can't figure out how others are doing it...

Firstly, about stamp duty:

Go to the following link:

http://zerodha.com/main/calculator/calcs.html

In this calculator what is the last line which is highlighted?? Stamp duty??? So aren't we mentioning??

Stamp duty is for entire day, so tell me how do we show it individually per trade?? don't you think it will be misleading??

Go to this link:

http://zerodha.com/download/index.html

Click on brokerage calculator, an excel sheet opens... Check out the charge list:

An explanation of all charges is given....

SEBI charge is Rs 10/crore, Rs 10 per 1,00,00,000 ... :) ... This is part of transaction charges on the brokerage calculator... But if you want to see all the differentials go to the excel sheet on downloads section....

How many brokers today put up any of these charges or like a brokerage calculator on their website... Let me know a few if you know.... If you can give some links it will help....

@buzz, Margin required to hold nifty overnight is 24k and intraday is 10k....If your broker is letting you buy 1 lot of nifty for 3000 in your account, hmmm... Wait for a market meltdown and you will know the risk you are taking....

If 100 clients of your broker have taken long nifty with 3k as margin and if nifty suddenly falls down 200 points(only 200, 4%)...He will be down 7k per lot... If the 100 guys are long 1000 lots, your broker risks a default of Rs 70lks... So be cautious when you are getting such leverages from your broker, you never know the next 2008 might be around the corner...

Happy trading guys!!!

Cheers

Yes, this very important. Quotes need to be compared and we need to find out, I guess the only way to do that would be to compare it with some other data feed. Maybe someone with Global Data feed subscription can compare with Now.exe quotes and let us know?
Murthy and others,

You can't really compare speeds of your data provider to trading platforms...Be it any trading platform... Data provider has to be worry about nothing else other than providing feeds...

Trading platform has a lot of other issues to be worried and can be delayed by 1 or 2 ticks...

Guys, it is important not to be pennywise -pound foolish while trading the markets... If you are a scalper, ensure that you use a separate charting tool with a reliable data provider...You could probably see a few ticks that might be missed on trading platform... As a scalper my advise would be to trade market orders and if you have a reliable data provider, you see it on your charting tool... don't wait for the ticks to appear on the trading platform, just buy and sell at market...

I had a long holiday for the New Years!!! Happy to be back!!!

Would it help in speeding up if the plus service is unchecked while logging in?

There may be a way to improve performance on Now.exe. If you have Barthi Airtlel internet, you should install the Now.exe Bharti setup, and if you have Tata internet, you should install Now.exe Tata setup. The difference is probably only in the ' nestclient.ini ' file located in the Now folder. You can open the nestclient.ini file and see stuff like " [BRDDD_DEPTH_NAME]
NAME = tplant_depth_tata_group" or " [BRDDD_DEPTH_NAME]
NAME = tplant_depth_Bharti_group". If it matches your internet provider no need to change. But I have seen that generally the Bharti ini gives better performance.

Important: Delete ' neststclient.ini ' before installing your new setup for your respective internet connection.

That sounds disappointing. Can you suggest us a decent data provider for equities (Not derivatives). According to what I understand GDF does not provide equity data, only derivatives.

Why the hate?? ;) ..
It may not be hate, maybe just conditioned response due to previous n numbers of experience with the (unreliable) broking community, where non-transparent way of behavior is more of a norm than exception.

I think most of the queries regarding cost are seeking the breakup of "transaction charges". For me the break-up is not important as long as i know clearly upfront what i am paying as charges so i can compare my over all cost with different options.

As per their excel "Transaction Charges" charged by Zeroda are.

Code:
Cash & Futures: Rs. 540/- for turnover of 1 Cr. [50 L buy + 50 L sell]
NSE Options: Rs. 8000/- for 1 Cr of premium turnover
Once we know this cost clearly, we should move on to trading and not worry too much who gets what from this TC :)

Cheers

PS: As Zerodha said don't know how to upload the snap shots here, i am doing it for them

Hi zerodha jee any update on margin against stocks because even the new broker on the forum says his margin against stocks will be up and running in 2 months .They also have Dp with Ilfs .You are already telling us from last 1 year that it will be up soon

I HOPE YOU GUYS DO IT BEFORE A NEW BROKER COMES AND KEEPS HIS SYSTEM UP AND RUNNING

I dont mean to comapre you people but just saying that its been enough of delay and my yearly susbcription at RELIGARE ends in Feb and if your system is not up and running .

Than again i will have to pay advance brokerge for my two accounts to them out of which i was hoping to shift one to ZERODHA :(

I just want to sell options on Stocks i already have so no risk involved its just that u need to provide me real time no hassels margin against it Its is ultra basic for a client to ask for
sir as i have become accustomed to my query not being answered in first time i dont mind to ask again. see i will have to again pay religare 2 lacs advance brokerage for the 2 accounts i have there MY desperations

Thoug the other broker (RKSV) has promised margin for stocks in two months but u are old and trusted so i have decided to open 2 account one with you one with them and also keep one with religare as my account balance is quite large :thumb:

KINDLY UPDATE ??? as i can see you are replying to people who hate you but not to people who want to join you

@mayank,

You are always on my mind!!!! ;)..

As I said, there is a limitation for having a third party for DP.. You would have to manually pledge the shares...

The other way out is where when you purchase the shares we don't send it to your demat but keep it in the pool and give margins... This is not a compliant procedure and you should be happy that we don't do un-compliant activities...

I might have a solution.. Can you leave your number once again on [email protected], attn: Sachin...

For opening a new account with Zerodha, if I choose not to open a demat with ILFS, do I have to pay the AMC for trading account each year?

Thanks Zerodha

If an intraday trade is squared off automatically by the platform at 3:10 P.M. How much do I pay? Do I also pay for the order that hasn't got executed at the price I had placed the order for?
