where we can see how much margin is required for prticular stock and is 50% intraday margin applicable for stocks as well or its just for commodities???
Stock leverages are usually 5 to 10 times based on what stock you are trading..

for equity futures it is 40% of stipulated margin,

for commodity futures it is 50% of stipulated margin,

For checking out how much margin on stocks, check out the intraday margin excel on download section of our website..

Demat charges or DP charges as it is called is applicable only when you are selling shares from your demat account.. It is not applicable for buying..

Dp charges are Rs9 with us + NSDL charges(Rs 5)...
Can you please post the charge reference ? any link ?

Ledger balance is your balance in the account.. Every day whatever is contract note credit or debit, it happens on your ledger balance.. If you check the ledger balance without margins, it will show you balance without margins blocked for your positions, and if you choose with margins, it will show after blocking margins are blocked for existing positions..
Thanks for the information.

dp charges are available on the charge sheet of the demat account opening form... You can download the demat account opening form and check it out..
Thanks . I have downloaded demat account opening form . I find this charge sheet in the form ... Am I looking at the correct sheet ?

This does not specify NSDL charge.
This does not specify Demat charge correctly also.

Am I looking at the correct sheet ?

where do I get the correct information ?

Has anyone managed to install NSE NOW on Linux andd get it to work ?

It does install with 'Wine", but it reports an error while finishing the install stating ' The following file did not self-register or unregister, riskcalculation.dll '

And then when I use 'Launch NOW' to get it to work, Wine ends up crashing ...

Will be staying up tonight to see if theres a fix for it.

Meanwhile is there a workaround to access Zerodhas Backoffice Link on Firefox or any other browser except IE ?
Installing IE and getting it to work in Ubuntu via Wine is another time consuming process ..

Im currently running Ubuntu 12.04 LTS Precise Pangolin. Have had a hassle free experience on Ubuntu from the past 1.5 years and had sworn NEVER to get back to Windows !

I hope there is some fix for this.
Wouldnt want to eat my own words, of never going back to "Windows" :D

@ Zerodha : Would request you to atleast make the back offlce link/login Firefox capable ... I understand NSE NOW is not under your tech teams purview, but your web site certainly is !

I mean, it works ONLY on IE ?! :(

Dear zerodha,
am off from trading since last april....i want to know is both commodity & Fno can trade in one platform ...zerodha trader?sorry if replied earlier...

NOW is EXTREMELY frustrating. I hadn't been jinxed by the constant freezing, hanging BS for the first few days - but, lately it has made trading VERY frustrating. Look forward to the NEST plus and I hope it'll be better - because NOW is almost unworkable.

Yes looking at the right sheet...

My bad, it is now Rs 8 + NSDL charges... NSDL charges is Rs 5, so it comes to Rs 13 flat irrespective of how much quantity...
