Zerodha/Sachin,

Sebi approved MCX equity platform yesterday, do you have any plan to offer this platform to your clients in the near future? What is the view of Nithin on it?

And boss what happened to the BSE trading facility? Have you forgotten it. Been waiting for it long.

Think I have to always buy that damn Spicejet and such shares from my local broker only, who charges hell lot of brokerage! Bought it when it was at 22 and paid a fat brokerage along with blood sucking STT

And as an aside..

Guys, frankly learn to do lobbying :). Otherwise it is very difficult to get your job done in India. Only "jugaad" works here. Look how many of your work/applications (have delayed) are getting delayed by the authorities without any reasons. Now since you have become successful, you will face more such problems especially from the competition.

Thanks :)

We had expected MCX-SX to get approvals, we had already applied for the membership.. With our own platform now, we can be as flexible as the so called big brokers.. ;)...

Lobbying is what is required and Nithin is spending a lot of time nowadays with the authorities....

Sachin,

In the all-new Zerodha Trader, see that the indices can find a place in the
Market Watch, so that the data can be pulled to Excel or Amibroker. With
the indices staying in a separate dialogue box, we are not able to get that
data or charts.

Hope you will add this to your 'to-do' list.

60 day challenge

Here is an update on my brokerage refund issue. After writing 5-6 mails I finally came to know why I was not refunded the brokerage. It was because they decided to refund the brokerage only to the winning traders who were trading in F&O and not for equity cash in which I trade mostly. I had generated a brokerage of approximately Rs. 2500/- and also my wife's account which had also generated about the same, totaling to about Rs. 5000/- which is not going to be refunded to me because it was mostly equity cash traded winnings. Well I did not know about that. If anybody knows of any posting in this thread or anywhere else which mentions such a rule for the 60 - day challenge contest please do let me know. Well, it was their decision really, to have that contest and I guess they have complete right to bend/change the rules. It is kind of disappointing. Anyway at least I made a profit in that period. So no grudges. I had planned to gradually increase my account size to over 10X of my current size, so I will have to find some other way to save my brokerage instead of depending on some contest.

FYI, a contest owner can't change many things after completion of contest. like what condition zerodha added. i checked their mail they mentioned equity -

anyways, if you are ok with this, then its your decision. but i would not definitely. to give an example, telling what 'Nokia' co. did with me. i participated in one contest, b/c of some technical error server lost my points, or something else; i mailed them, their outsourced IT guy called me to tell they have confusion on points i got, so they will not give me prize. i mailed again 2-3 times, then finally faxed a hand written 'letter' to their HO, Gurgaon and WHO, Finland. I got call within 48hrs, they delayed announcement the winners, they re-announce the list after adding my name. if they would not have replied my letter, then i will take further action. Prize was not important (although it was N8), they cheated, it was so embarrassing my all friends knew. we let these co.s cheat us, that's why every co. think they can do anything. actually co.s dont understand at last co.s are at loss, i was fan of Nokia always recommend to my friends, but after that don't feel same.

and if zerodha will not explain why this happened, then i will not able to trust them anymore, b/c who knows what they will change in future without notifying their customers.

There must be a misunderstanding / mistake /oversight somewhere.

Zerodha, I suppose you are also refunding the brokerage for the transactions in Equity (cash) segment, as stated clearly by you. Below is an excerpt from the mail I received from Zerodha on Feb 10, 2012.

The reason that I am going to let this be is because I traded the way I had planned, contest or no contest. My strategy was based on the fact that brokerage was going to be deducted from my profits. The contest and the brokerage refund was just an added excitement, with the understanding that it is just a temporary thing. I was not really going for the brokerage. Also, I really do not have the time to follow-up with this thing. Plus it is an otherwise great experience to trade with Zerodha. I may look for other options to trade in equity but for derivatives, I may stick with Zerodha. That's my viewpoint on the whole thing.
