In Contract Note ...in Equity CNC SELL I find STT charge is greater than brokerage charge. Is this normal ? or this is a mistake in ECN ?

How you are calculating STT charge ?

Re: STT & Brokerage

How about other brokers ? are they too charging higher STT than brokerage ! ?
STT rate is fixed for ALL Brokers. Currently STT for delivery is 0.1% on both BUY & SELL (each leg). So whenever brokerage is above 0.1% for each leg in delivery, brokerage is higher than STT.
Still now most brokers in India charging higher brokerage than STT. Some of big brokers still charging 0.3%-0.4% for each leg in delivery. :annoyed:

Zerodha & RKSV need some sort of advertising through CNBC/ETNOW at least for one week to stop such cheaters like Angel Broking, Motilal Oswal, Axis, Sbin, ICICI, HDFC, Kotak etc. It is required as 'Awareness Program' to all Indian Traders bcoz most of them never think of such small brokerages exist!

STT for equity is 0.1%. Looks like you have sold stocks worth 50k in 2trades.. So brok is 40 and STT is 50( 0.1% of Rs 50,000).. This is very normal with us, we recently had a guy who sold around 3crs of Stock portfolio in 6 trades, paid Rs 120 as brokerage and Rs 30,000 as STT.. :)

grrrrr... there seems no escape from clutches of STT :annoyed:

I'm thinking about reducing trade expenses...like doing less trade + high volume ....this will save some DP charges + Brokerage at least...though there is no way I can save STT....or may be moving into other segments..

how much STT is in F&O segment ? ..is it same ?

For F&O it is 0.017% on sell turnover (sell side only). Much lesser compared to Equity delivery.

If you want to escape STT then go for either currency trading or Commodity trading.

STT is only on equity. No STT applicable on commodities and currency. You can try those segments.
