Zerodha you told fully Automated Algo based trading. Does it means we can do High frequency trading (HFT) also?
HFT requires dedicated co located server of the TRADER ITSELF, not the broker, costs around 12 lakhs a year, and capital required for HFT is rougly 50 to 100 crores, with thousands of orders released into the system daily, and requires a dedicated team of algo professionals to create, mantain and make periodic adjustments to the algo.

Hope you are capitalised for all this.

If you are, you dont even need Zerodha.
Any broker will give you this service.

And even after all that, in the Indian context, transaction costs make HFT an unlikely method of profitability. Hardly a worthwhile endeavor trying to make pennies, when STT etc makes you start in the red.

Just posting this for information. Survey of top 10 brokers of America by SmartMoney http://online.wsj.com/media/smbrokersurvey0612.gif .

Scottrade, Tradeking and Zecco are discount brokers. I do not know about others. Zecco and TradeKing completed their merger on this Aug 1 to take on big boys. Guys visit their websites and see their trading platforms. And envy them :D

Can even our brokers ever have a website like theirs, leave alone the great trading platforms and full disclosures which they clearly make on their website? Too much to ask, guess!

And i gurantee that most of the IT work behind these brokers and their website is from Indian minds !!!

Zerodha,

From the past few days whenever I am logging into the Ztrader, the following message appears:

Please look into it.
--------------------------------------------------
Also, how much you are charging as turnover charges for commodities?

1. Please send a mail to zerodha, they will send the file with correct settings

2. Please refer to their Brokerage calculator.

1. Thanks for that.

2. As per brokerage calculator, Total Tran Charge comes to Rs. 440/- per crore of turnover. If that is so then it is too high comparing to most brokers charging Rs. 250/- per crore in MCX.

Zerodha,

I saw some comments in the thread about the AMC charge. Before opening the account with you I had asked some queries to your customer care by email, which are answered by Hari and Kunal.

One of my query was about the AMC charge. Which I had probably asked to the Zerodha customer care in this way: Do I have to pay you or the ILFS the AMC charge through cheque or through other method or are you going to deduct the same from my banking account "automatically" every six months?

To this, I was told (probably by Kunal or Hari) that I Do Not need to worry about the AMC charge as it is deducted automatically from client's bank account.

Then what is this fuss about the AMC charge I am hearing here?

I am doing this question because so far No amount/charge for AMC has been deducted by ILFS or Zerodha from my bank account. I have also not paid any amount (except the six monthly charge required as advance for account opening) as AMC charge since I have opened the account with you 10-11 months back, because I became care free after getting that reply from your customer care guys.

But now I am concerned. Will the ILFS guys close my demat account on not receiving the AMC charge from me? Do they have such a right. Can they do so if they wish so?! Many question arises. Kindly answer all of them.

Thanks
