WTF! MCX Crude trading at a premium of 35-36 rupees from trading at par earlier in the evening. When one is destined to get shafted in the Indian market then it makes more sense to go with those dubious Forex/Commodities traders when we know either ways we are going to lose or give up profits. Would feel less of a Turd World loser.

Btw, how long before we can have NSE on Zerodha Trader as well?

Congratulations! Premium's gone up to 40 bucks.

Hi zerodha.. Am new to trading.. Just got few questions that may sound silly but i want to get it cleared out here...
1) I have opened demat with IL&FS... If am taking delivery of the stocks or doing BTST, then the brokerage is just 20+20 or 20+20+pay out charges in the dp..??
2) For futures and options, the brokerage is as per the brokerage calculator in the site both for intraday and carry over..??
3) I have limited knowledge abt margin.. How much margin do u offer for intraday and delivery..?? And do u provide margin for trading in f&o too..??
4) Suppose I have bought few stocks for intraday and then decide to take delivery, how should i do it..??
Please help..
Hi Janani.
I am also a New member to Zerodha & doing trading from past 2 weeks.

What i observe in the contract note is that - "ZERODHA" charges Turnover charges extra. If u finally check the brokerage charges inclusize of all taxes & turnover Charges a single lot Buy/sell would cost 40 Rs [ 38 to be specific] Please confirm this structure.

I will also share my Contract note if required.

For Eg: 9 orders [ Total Strikes] - Ideally the Brokerage should be 9*20= 180
But the total brokerage was 340 [ 100 Turn Over Charges +180 +STT+Stamp Duty ]

"Turn over Charges" is what i am doubtfull with. DO other brokers charge this ? Also 20 flat is a marketing gimmick , please note there are other charges too. Which will easily come up to 40.

I will also share my Contract note if required.

Thanks a lot zerodha... Two more queries and I ll leave u alone (atleast for now).. :)
1) Can we short sell all the stocks in equities or is there an exception..?? And how long can we carry short positions..??
2) How do we have to apply for margin..??
You can short sell all stocks which are on our intraday margin file in download section of our website...

When tradin these stocks, use the product type as mis, you will automatically get margin ... Happy trading... Cheers

term transaction charges is composite of exchange charges and clearing charges, mainly, but term can include some other charges depending upon broker wish/conditions.

all brokers charge compulsory exchange charges in different heads like transaction charge/total transaction charge/to charge/exchange charges, clearing and others (broker's own) depends on individuals. can't say what is actual reason behind their high charges, but yeah they are high specially for futures. for trading futures, sharekhan charge 200rs/crore, bezel and RKSV charge 230rs/crore, zerodha charge 490rs/crore.

but if you trade heavy volume sharekhan and bezel will be costly, if trade less than 3 sets of buy-sell orders with heavy lot size in 1-2 scrips, zerodha is good. if trade more than 3 sets or scalp or trade 1-2 lots in multiple scrips then RKSV will be cheapest. every broker have different positive or negative points, as a trader we only can choose what fits best now till better arrive.

Re: Trading with Zerodha

Actually Zerodha is BEST for trading with OPTION(usually traded with 10+ lots & not frequently traded) & MCX . Still no competition in these two section. Cheers.

Zerodha, the one thing that we all badly need in our trading platform is Trailing Stoploss. Lost profits are a cause of heartburn with many traders. Is there any way you can provide TSL ?? Or suggest a workaround ?? Trailing it manually is .. well, iffy. Difficult to keep changing the order all the time.

Please go through the conversation here and comment, if possible.

Hi,Bharat,

Been trading with Zerodha since 2nd May.Their brokerage is one of the lowest.0.001% or Rs 20 which ever is lower!! Brokerage is applied to each leg of the trade, that is once for buy side and once for sell side.
The other costs are as per SEBI & Govt norms.
Back Office service is among the best. They have virtually no negatives.

thx & bye

What are the timings of currency market on MCX? From what I know, it is from 9:59 AM to 5 PM, Monday to Friday. Rupee closed at 55.74(rounded off) on Friday evening.
Now, when I log into Zerodha Trader, it shows Rupee's previous close at 56.29(rounded off). When did that happen?
NSE Currency derivatives still shows Rupee at 55.7275.
