I think Zerodha is calculating stamp duty separately, ask them for clarification in their thread. For some days, compare your contract note with brokerage calculator so that you will get idea about charges!

Yes Stamp Duty is charged on Contract Note basis. 0.01% or Rs 50/- whichever is lower per contract note.

Today's trade

short sell YESBANK 240 @ 360.95 , squared off at 359.55

profit of 335.80

after zerodha's brokarage calculator showed the total charges as 50.6 , the total profit is 285.40

ledger balance at 11668.09 .. after three trading days.

The good of today is that I have totally relied on my chart analysis.. (though basic knowledge) .. observing the patterns of the scrip for last 3 months, making some inferences, applying them here.. all those..

as per my inference, i was supposed to make a 1000 rupee profit today.. but the highest i met was 890 , and i stayed around there for 15 minutes or so.. i was greedy.. so didn't square off my position.. this was just half hour after i sold.

later i was looking at 800 loss, but still stuck on to that position because i was confident that it goes down..

and it did by the end of the day, where i came out with 285 profit.

Now, i understand the tensions of losing money (experienced when my loss was showing up) .. and then the importance of technical knowledge, impact of emotional feelings on trading routine.., also .. not to be greedy.. :) .. hope this helps me in the coming days..

Mate which software are you using for technical Analysis . NSE ? Metastock ?
I use chartnexus for historical, (1 day before) .. for minute by minute, Zerodha's trader terminal has NEST Plus integration.. and charts can be seen in NESTPlus too.. (NOW terminal itself) . that gives minute by minute patterns, candles.. anything u want.

Akhill ji... You have a Ledger of 10k and you are taking a position of 80k..... You have had a very good beginning, but unless you cut down on your position size, sooner rather than later you are going to completely blow your account.... It's evident from the fact that you had a position which was at one point of time negative 800 (8% of your capital) but you held on to it.....

My only advice would be to cut down the leverage..... As per my experience, on a ledger of 10k, you shouldn't take an Intraday position of more than 25k (that too when you are confident about the move).... And for Delivery based trades, no leverage at all... :)

It's easy to make money in Trading..... What is difficult is to keep that money with yourself... :)

Just a word of caution from a well-wisher, to heed it or not is totally upto you.... :)

Happy Trading and have a nice day!!!!!

thankyou aditya..

i was over enthusiaistic i guess.. i thought of losing 5% of my capital only.. 500. that should have been my stop loss.. but, may be because i made 1000 over the previous two days, i thought let me extend it to 1000. But, i was also sure of my analysis.. but, one loss will make me blow my account if i go like this i guess.. from tomorrow, i will try not to take huge positions and strictly maintain my stop loss..
