EOD Download/ Convert from NSE and BSE

Hi Pankaj,

Thank you very much for providing such a nice utility.

I have downloaded the last setup installation and then downloaded the .exe file once again and replaced in Program folder were the first exe file was placed.

I would like to bring following points to your notice.

1) When I downloaded data from NSE using your downloader , it is fine.

2) When I converted data, which was downloaded using your utility as I said in 1 above, after selecting default option, data were converted nicely.

3) But when I tried to convert the data downloaded from some yahoo group (because those data have the open interest in it and the same is not available in NSE Bhavcopy), I could not convert the data properly.
The utility has deleted the source files and did not created new stockwise files.

Would you please look into mater and help me.

Would you please also post new help file in your directory if you have one.

Yahoo group data is already in MS importable format. You need not convert it. As for deletion of data, check for it in Backup folder. It may be present in it.Other issues I will get into.

Hi Mehul
Item highlighted in bold is main setup programme. After that you can use upgrade (zip file) and replace the Main exe file named EODDownloadConvert.exe . Other files are meant for those who have the programme installed earlier.

For some reason the program is not working for me. As you've said above I've downloaded and installed the main program 9.33MB, next I downloaded the upgrade and replaced the EODDownloadConvert.exe in the main folder with the one which was in the upgrade I downloaded (only one file the other files in the upgrade folder have not been copied into the main EODDC folder in program files.)

When i run the program i am not able to download from NSE, the only url in the add button is of bse there is no url of nse. Also even if I attempt to download several days of bse data using the "from" - "to" function when i click add only the latest days historical data URL gets added. That is only one day.

Please aavise.

I requested for the following correction in your useful software.
1.Problem of conversion part of your software ie your software is not separating EQ and BE variety in equity data downloaded from NSE website.
2.The conversion part is not recognising the data downloaded other than default directory or the software is not ordering the old data downloaded by your software.
3.Conversion part should recognise and insert the new data in proper place for example if I download data for the past three months later if I want past six months data your software should insert the new data in proper place.

Did you make any upgradation in your software.

Let me see if I can spare little more time to this as first two request is easy but third one is more generic and requires a new algorithm for conversion.
Will check on both this weekend.

As for Marcus I am not sure what could be the problem. May be download server was not working when you tried. For download you just have to specify from and to date and click download button. That should do the job.

it a very good and neat software i used it , it is very helpful for me and people who do charting analysis , previously i used to download the data and then change the parameters manually to meta format and then convert to metadata , with your software on just on click it will download and convert to ascii . i wish you all the best for your future software experiments to be very successful

Thanks for kind words. It was just a hobby, you can say and as a token of appreciation for this open forum.

Currently, just trying to finish some of the pending issues brought to notice by others.

Hopefully it will be over by tomorrow and testing by sunday so I can post new version .

Update on progress:-

1.Problem of EQ/BE of same stock included in converted file is solved.
2.Downloading symbols change file and replacing it during current conversion is over.

Pending /working on:-

3.Updating symbols change for all converted files
4.Converting files downloaded to other folders as well as other ascii files not necessarily from NSE only but from other sources.(generic algorithm)
5.Trying to increase the limit of 50-60 stocks in watch list as pointed out by Rajneesh.
6. Trying to see if multi threading could be used for downloading and processing files.

Next version release will be on completion of 3 and 4. and I will try to see if 5 and 6 could also be completed.


Converting to metastock directly is possible but that needs some additional files from Metastock Company which is a commercial and high priced product. So that may not be possible in a free product.

I developed an application (for my personal use), that can download EOD quotes (Bhavcopy) for Equities and F&O from NSE website (www.nseindia.com) and store them in CSV format as well as automatically import into AmiBroker.

The following are the features of the application(s) :
1. Select custom date range since 01-Jan-1995 to today.
2. Use Yahoo! format or NSE format. Allows compatibility with AmiQuote / Yahoo! quotes downloader. Yahoo! format uses first 9 characters followed by ".NS".
3. Automatically import downloaded quotes into AmiBroker.
4. Automatically adds new scrips / symbols to AmiBroker database from the downloaded quotes.
5. Cleanup old non-traded scrips (configurable e.g. 30 days old)
6. Automatically create WatchLists in AmiBroker based on CNX Indices, Industries and F&O scrips by downloading relevant information from NSE website.
7. Future development in progress.

I look forward to share these applications with members of this board if there is a demand for it.
